The Family Table – November 20, 2022
Dear LEFC Parents,
I hope your family is counting your many blessings one by one and giving thanks to the Lord for each of them. Certainly each one of our children is a blessing (Psalm 127:5). Let’s remember to give thanks for them this week. When you gather around a turkey on Thursday evening, you might want to name each child before the Lord and thank Him in their hearing. That will remind everyone at the family table from where each little blessing flows. You might want to add 1-3 things about each child that you are thankful for, as well.
Welcome to “The Family Table”
I hope you are finding this email helpful each Sunday. Have you clicked through the link to The Gospel Project at Home? Did your family carve out 10-15 minutes for a devotional time together centered on last week’s lesson? If so, let us know what you thought were the best parts or the things that could be improved.
The Gospel Project at Home
Today, our Children’s Church continued the their Bible study in The Gospel Project with Volume 3, Unit 8, Session 1 – “God Defeated Jericho.” Follow this link to find resources for a family devotional time based on this lesson. [Free one-time registration required.]
If your student was in Little Learners or Bible Explorers this morning, they received a coloring page and take-home sheet that corresponds to this lesson. You have also been given a full-color Big Picture Card that you can use to reinforce the lesson with your child, as well. We are hoping this will help keep all of our LEFC kids “on the same page,” and feed their faith in Jesus.
Worldview Training for Youth
“Ideas Have Consequences.” Keith Hurley and his team are continuing to offer a worldview training class for youth (grades 7-12) in the upstairs Youth Room every other Sunday evening at 7:00pm. The next class is this evening. I hope your teen can participate.
And for Dessert…
This week’s recommended resource is a book entitled, Write It On Their Hearts: Practical Help for Discipling Your Kids by Chris and Melissa Swain (The Good Book Company, 2022). Check out a video introducing the book here.
Write It On Their Hearts is based on the same scripture as my sermon about family discipleship this last Spring. I really appreciated how it both provides principles and practices for family discipleship. And it is very easy to read, as well. I have a copy in my library that I’d be happy to loan out.
I hope your family eats it up.
Blessings,
Pastor Matt
