Feeding the Faith of LEFC Families

The Family Table – January 8, 2023

January 8, 2023

Dear LEFC Parents,

Remember when the ABC Kids used to sing that song we all loved, “Read Your Bible, Pray Every Day,” and as they sang it on stage they would grow, gRoW, GROW?! How true that is. I hope your first week of 2023 was full of Bible and prayer for your whole family, and (even if the first one wasn’t) that your second week is, too! The key is to make a plan and then work your plan.

The Gospel Project at Home

Today, our Children’s Church continued their Bible study in The Gospel Project with Volume 3, Unit 9, Lesson 3 – “God Provided for Ruth.” Follow this link to find resources for a family devotional time based on this lesson.

If your student was in Little Learners or Bible Explorers this morning, they received a coloring page and take-home sheet that corresponds to this lesson. You have also been given a full-color Big Picture Card that you can use to reinforce the lesson with your child, as well.

Worldview Training for Youth

“Ideas Have Consequences.” Keith Hurley and his team are continuing to offer a worldview training class for youth (grades 7-12) in the upstairs Youth Room every other Sunday evening at 7:00pm. The class starts again TONIGHT! Parents are always invited to participate, too.

And for Dessert…

This week’s recommended resource is a fully-loaded website for parents of teens.

The Center for Parent/Youth Understanding has been helping parents to understand their teenagers and the culture shaping them since 1989. They have thousands of podcasts, short articles, and other resources to “bridge the cultural-generational gap between parents and teenagers” from a Christian worldview.

Their CPYU “Youth Culture Today” podcasts are only 60 seconds long. Perhaps you’ll want to subscribe and give it one minute out of your day. Their “Youth Culture Matters” interviews are longer and more in-depth. recent episodes dealt with gender issues and social media. There is even a podcast for godly grandparenting that you might want to pass on to your own folks!

I hope your family eats it up.

Blessings,

Pastor Matt
