Mom & Kids Meet-Up: This Week!

Moms and their kids of any age are invited to a playdate in the fellowship hall on October 16th from 9-10am. Moms can enjoy visiting with each other while the kids play with provided toys, games, and activities. No RSVP is required, and moms are welcome to come and go as needed. We will continue on a monthly basis on the third Thursday of the month throughout the school year. See Jordyn Skacel for more information!

LEFC Harvest Party

Join us on a cozy autumn evening for a Harvest Party with a free dinner, a hayride, pumpkin decorating, and fall activities. Dinner will be served at 5:00. Enjoy some quality time with your family and bring your friends, too! Are you interested in helping out during the event? See Jordyn Skacel.

Service Project Opportunity

Also on October 25th, a team from LEFC plans to help a homeowner with cleanup in their backyard. Has your family been wanting a way to serve together? Talk to Pastor Matt to see if it might be a good fit for your family to join in and serve in this way!

No Youth Group Next Week

Youth Group will not meet next week, the 19th, but will resume the following week, the 26th, and will feature a spam carving contest! Your teen won’t want to miss it!

Mom’s Night Out: Friendsgiving Edition

Moms with children in the home are invited to a Friendsgiving-themed Mom’s Night Out on November 15th at 7pm. We’ll have plenty of snacks, a guest speaker, and a fall craft. Come enjoy a night out of the house with fellow moms, and invite others to come with you! Registration coming soon.

“Jonah, Prophet to Nineveh” Kids Bible Class Devotional

You have free access to a family devotional based on the curriculum our kids are studying each week in KBC! It’s called “The Gospel Project at Home.” Today’s Bible Study is “Jonah, Prophet to Nineveh” (Volume 5: Unit 14: Session 2), and the devotional can be found at this link.

Visit the Family Ministries page on our website for information about how to access The Gospel Project at Home for the first time.

And for Dessert…

This week’s recommendation is a tool to help you (and your kids!) clearly and concisely articulate the Gospel. The GodTools app currently includes three different resources, two of which are very similar gospel presentations, Knowing God Personally, and Four Spiritual Laws. What I (Jordyn) love most about these tools is that they provide an always-accessible way to share the Gospel with friends and family.

Users simply open the tool and the app will immediately begin walking through the Gospel in four simple points, providing prompts, questions, and scripture as you go. At the end of the fourth point, the app will invite the hearer to begin a relationship with Jesus and provide follow-up points, like “what happens when you put your trust in Jesus” and “how to grow as a follower of Jesus.” When sharing the tool with a friend, all you need to do is read the prompts to them as you go and ask the questions, maybe adding in some dialogue about their answers, and by the end you will have explained to them the life-changing news that God loves them, and although their sin separates them from Him, Jesus died in their place and they can begin a personal relationship with Him!

Using these doesn’t require any special skills, and you don’t have to worry about stumbling over your words, forgetting scripture references on the spot, or having to think of questions to ask. I think they’re great for any Christian to read through for personal growth as well, since they reiterate the “main thing” and might help to connect the dots or make sense of some spiritual truths you don’t understand as well. When I was first exposed to these tools 11 years ago, I probably wouldn’t have been able to explain to someone what the Gospel was. I always say I never “connected the dots.” Now, from memory, I can easily explain it in four simple points, and I need to hear it daily, just as much as someone who has never heard it before.

Last year, the Lord used this app to bring over 15,000 people to indicate a decision to follow Christ! Maybe you aren’t quite sure that you can “connect the dots,” either. I encourage you to take a look at the app and read through it. Parents, consider reading through it with your kids. I am confident that it will open up some excellent discussion with them, and God might even use you to lead them to Him for the first time!
