Feeding the Faith of LEFC Families
TFT: Miracle Man
April 20, 2025
Dear LEFC Families,
Christ is Risen!
He Is Risen Indeed!
Yesterday, we celebrated the greatest miracle in history. Jesus Christ died and was crucified and buried, but He did not stay dead! On the third day, He rose again just as He had promised, defeating the grave and securing a means to salvation for all who believe. If you haven’t already, spend some time marveling over this incredible gift with your family. We hope your family’s holiday was full of great joy and celebration!
Four Fantastic Facts
If your family attended the egg hunt, your child received the Four Fantastic Facts booklet in their goody bag. The FFF clearly and age-appropriately explains the gospel to kids and how to enter into a relationship with Jesus. We encourage you to read through that with them today and pray that the Holy Spirit would work in their hearts to understand and believe. If you weren’t at the hunt, we have extra copies in the church foyer.
Send Pastor Matt Your Kids’ Sports Schedules
Spring sports are here! I (Pastor Matt) love to drop in to see the kids of our church family play their sports, but I need to know when and where the games are. It’s hard to keep track of who is on what team. If you could send me your kids’ sports schedules for this new season, it will help me to make it to more games and spend some quality time with your family.
Save the Date for Family Night
Our next family night will be June 6th. Save the date! Keep an eye out for more details coming soon!
Family Bible Week : Magnified!
Is your family getting excited for Family Bible Week in just three months? This year’s theme is Magnified: Discovering the Bigness of God in the Smallest of Things. Check out the Lifeway playlist for the theme!
Join us for Mom’s Night Out!
On Friday May 16th, moms with children in the home are invited to the church for a Mom’s Night Out! Come at 6:00 to enjoy time out of the house in community with fellow moms. We’ll have fun with various activities, chatting, and plenty of snacks and desserts! Mark your calendars now to attend, and don’t forget to invite fellow mom friends to come with you. Dads, as part of your Mother’s Day gift to mom, consider offering to watch the kids so she can participate! We’re asking moms to register here so we can plan for food and activities. Nursing infants are welcome. We hope you’ll join us!
“Gideon Led Israel” Kids Bible Class Devotional
You have free access to a family devotional based on the curriculum our kids are studying each week in KBC! It’s called “The Gospel Project at Home.” Today’s Bible Study is “Gideon Led Israel” (Volume 3: Unit 8: Session 3), and the devotional can be found at this link.
Visit the Family Ministries page on our website for information about how to access The Gospel Project at Home for the first time.
And for Dessert…
This week’s recommendation for family discipleship is an intricately-designed children’s book that creatively highlights the powerful life of Jesus.
Miracle Man: The Story of Jesus is a fresh re-telling of several stories about Jesus drawn from the gospels by John Hendrix, the best-selling author and illustrator of books we’ve highlighted before such as The Mythmakers.
Hendrix’s two-page spreads each tell a story with striking images, unexpected color combinations, and words that emanate meaning. Every turn of the page opens to a new work of art.
Children (and adults) who read it will be fascinated by all of the details (more becomes visible the longer you stare at the page).
The publisher describes Miracle Man this way:
“A retelling of the story of Jesus. This book freshly reinterprets some of the oldest and best-known stories in human history and focuses on some of the many miracles that Jesus performed before his crucifixion. Jesus’s miracles are endless. From the large harvest of fish to washing the unclean, healing the sick, feeding the poor, and walking on water, Jesus performs feats that draw in believers that he is the Son of God. Unfortunately it also attracts the attention of nonbelievers, who saddle him with the cross he must bear. After all of his miraculous acts, the book closes with a final wonder for all to see—one that changes faith and religion as the world knows it, forever.”
And we know what that last glorious miracle was because we are celebrating it today!
– Read an article by John Hendrix on the process of creating Miracle Man.
– Watch a video from the publisher that introduces the book (including the inside!).
– Miracle Man: The Life of Jesus is available to borrow from the LEFC Library.
We hope your family eats it right up.

Matt Mitchell, Pastor
P.S. One detail in Miracle Man that adds so much but can also be easily missed is the presence of butterflies sprinkled throughout the stories. These little creaturely signs of new life and transformation follow Jesus just about wherever He goes in the pages. When you read it with your kids, ask your little one to point out the butterflies!

EXPLAINER: THE GOSPEL PROJECT AT HOME
For the last several years, our Children’s Church ministry has utilized The Gospel Project as our Bible study curriculum. The Gospel Project is really excellent–it takes our Little Learners and Bible Explorers chronologically through the whole Bible over the course of three years while always focusing on Jesus as the center of the big story. If your student was in Little Learners or Bible Explorers this morning, they received a coloring page and take-home sheet that corresponds to this lesson. You have also been given a full-color Big Picture Card that you can use to reinforce the lesson with your child, as well.
To reinforce what your kids are learning each week in Children’s Church, you can now access The Gospel Project At Home online. Each week in this email, there will be a link to follow to get this free resource which includes:
1. A guide to using the Gospel Project at Home.
2. Scripture to read and discuss with a recap video of the Bible Story (Preschool and/or Elementary).
3. Scripture memory verses and a song to sing together.
4. Prayer prompts and family activities that correspond to the lesson.
Please consider setting aside at least 10-15 minutes once a week for a family devotional time using this resource as a guide. We are hoping The Gospel Project At Home will help keep all of our LEFC kids “on the same page,” and feed their faith in Jesus.
This might be especially helpful if for some reason your child has to miss a week of Children’s Church. You can show them the Bible story video to keep them up to speed on what the other children are learning.
**Note: The first time you access the link, you will need to register a free account with Lifeway’s Ministry Grid. This will also provide you ongoing access through the “training” tab to many other discipleship resources including the Gospel Project at Home for previous weeks. Many hours of excellent things to absorb for free!
