Feeding the Faith of LEFC Families

TFT: Good Pictures Bad Pictures

June 16, 2024

Dear LEFC Parents,

Here are some items to set the table for disciple-making in your family in the week ahead:

Where Do Babies Come From?

Focus on the Family recently aired a broadcast interview with Dr. Justin and Lindsey Holcomb on how to answer that unavoidable question in a kid-friendly way. The Holcombs are the authors of the short book, God Made Babies: Helping Parents Answer the Baby Question.

Challenge “Thrift Store” Now Open!

The Challenge Crew’s free “Thrift Store” is officially open for “business!” Stop by the rooms on the northeast wing of the church building to see what you might want to take home with you (and leave a donation to get our teens to Challenge 2024!).

The Gospel Project at Home

Today’s Bible Study is “Paul Visited the Churches” (Volume 12: Unit 34: Session 3). Ask your kids what they learned in Kids Bible Class this morning and/or do the family devotional you can find at this link.

Snack and Yack!

When the auditorium empties after worship, girls and boys (grades 3ish-7ish) who listened to the sermon (remember to fill out a handout!) are invited to Pastor Matt’s office for a tasty treat and a brief discussion with an LEFC elder couple about the message.

And for dessert…

This week’s dessert is brought to us by Jordyn Skacel, one of our Family Discipleship Team Members. She writes:

The “Good Pictures Bad Pictures Jr” pictures book, by Kristen A. Jenson, helps parents teach their littles about pornography in an age-appropriate way. Designed for children ages 3-6, it uses the concept of good pictures and bad pictures, explaining to them what bad pictures are and where they may come across them. It also arms them with a “turn, run, tell” strategy so they know what to do if they see an inappropriate picture. It’s never too young to teach kids what to do in these situations, as they are often exposed younger than we expect. An older version, titled simply “Good Pictures Bad Pictures” is also available for older children.

We hope this resource is a blessing to your family and opens the doors for honest and truth-honoring conversations with your children.
