Feeding the Faith of LEFC Families
TFT: Every Hour
May 11, 2025
Dear LEFC Families,
Happy Mother’s Day to all of our moms! May your day be joyful and enjoyable. We appreciate your ministry to your families and our LEFC church family!
Devoted: Great Men and Their Godly Moms
Moms, we’ve got a book recommendation just for you this Mother’s Day! Check out Devoted: Great Men and Their Godly Moms and be encouraged by the impact moms can make. “History tells of women whose love for the Bible shaped its earliest and most prominent teachers. It tells of women who were great theologians in their own right, yet whose only students were their own children. It tells, time and time again, of Christian men who owe so much to their godly mothers. Come take a brief look at some of them. We will look to the church’s earliest days to find a man who owed his salvation to the careful biblical instruction he received on the lap of his mother. We will zoom forward a few centuries to a woman whose constant prayers were at last rewarded when her son came to faith and went on to become one of history’s most influential theologians. We will advance to recent centuries to see how the prayers, teaching, and examples of godly mothers have shaped evangelists, preachers, and stalwart defenders of the faith. We will learn together of Christian men and their godly moms, mothers who were used to shape the men who changed the world.”
No Youth Group Tonight
Due to the Mother’s Day holiday, there will be no youth group tonight. We encourage you to do something special for your mom instead. We’ll see you back next week.
Family Bible Week Volunteers
Family Bible Week is fast approaching! This year’s FBW will be July 7-13. We will soon have a volunteer sheet in the foyer to sign up to help in various ways. If you’re thinking about helping out directly with the kids and don’t yet have your clearances and paperwork submitted to become a Family Ministries volunteer, see Jenni or Jordyn to get those started now!
Graduation Sunday
Graduation Sunday will be on May 25th this year. Do you have a budding graduate in your home? Don’t forget to grab a Graduation Info Sheet from the foyer and return it to Jenni English by May 11th so that all of our grads can be celebrated.
Send Pastor Matt Your Kids’ Sports Schedules
Spring sports are here! I (Pastor Matt) love to drop in to see the kids of our church family play their sports, but I need to know when and where the games are. It’s hard to keep track of who is on what team. If you could send me your kids’ sports schedules for this new season, it will help me to make it to more games and spend some quality time with your family.
Save the Date for Family Night
Our next family night will be June 6th. Save the date! Keep an eye out for more details coming soon!
Join us for Mom’s Night Out!
THIS FRIDAY! Moms with children in the home are invited to the church for a Mom’s Night Out! Come at 6:00 to enjoy time out of the house in community with fellow moms. We’ll have fun with various activities, chatting, and plenty of snacks and desserts! Don’t forget to invite fellow mom friends to come with you. Dads, as part of your Mother’s Day gift to mom, consider offering to watch the kids so she can participate! We’re asking moms to register here so we can plan for food and activities. Register by the end of the day today (5/11) if you want to guarantee enough craft supplies are available for you! Nursing infants are welcome. We hope you’ll join us!
“Samuel Was Born and Called” Kids Bible Class Devotional
You have free access to a family devotional based on the curriculum our kids are studying each week in KBC! It’s called “The Gospel Project at Home.” Today’s Bible Study is “Samuel Was Born and Called” (Volume 3: Unit 9: Session 2), and the devotional can be found at this link.
Visit the Family Ministries page on our website for information about how to access The Gospel Project at Home for the first time.
And for Dessert…
This week’s recommendation for family discipleship is a rich devotional book for moms that connects the dots between Who God is and everyday motherhood.
Katie Faris‘ newest book is Every Hour I Need You: 30 Meditations for Moms on the Character of God. In 200 bite-sized pages, Katie helps mothers to see how God’s amazing attributes are exactly what they need to do the big job that God has entrusted to them.
The publisher describes the book this way:
“From early mornings to sleepless nights and busy activity schedules in between, motherhood is difficult, sanctifying work. Confronted with the struggles and unknowns of raising children, women are reminded daily of their need for help, and from this awareness comes the heart cry of every mother: a longing to be known and loved through it all.
Having raised 5 children between the ages of 7 and 18, Katie Faris understands the challenges of parenting and the importance of remembering God’s provision and providence. In Every Hour I Need You, she walks with women, helping them contemplate God’s unchanging character and discover how his purposes are at work, even in the everyday moments of motherhood. These 30 brief devotions focus on distinct characteristics of God—including his sovereignty, generosity, and patience—inviting women to know him more through his word, experience deeper spiritual affections and stronger faith, and serve Christ through the care of their families at home.”
In addition to the sound doctrine and heartfelt teaching, each chapter includes reflection questions, prayer prompts, and a place for moms to journal their own thoughts. At the back is a six-page chart of attributes of God with key scriptures to memorize and to study.
Years ago, Katie was a member here at LEFC, and we’ve recommended her writings for moms before. She practices what she preaches.

EXPLAINER: THE GOSPEL PROJECT AT HOME
For the last several years, our Children’s Church ministry has utilized The Gospel Project as our Bible study curriculum. The Gospel Project is really excellent–it takes our Little Learners and Bible Explorers chronologically through the whole Bible over the course of three years while always focusing on Jesus as the center of the big story. If your student was in Little Learners or Bible Explorers this morning, they received a coloring page and take-home sheet that corresponds to this lesson. You have also been given a full-color Big Picture Card that you can use to reinforce the lesson with your child, as well.
To reinforce what your kids are learning each week in Children’s Church, you can now access The Gospel Project At Home online. Each week in this email, there will be a link to follow to get this free resource which includes:
1. A guide to using the Gospel Project at Home.
2. Scripture to read and discuss with a recap video of the Bible Story (Preschool and/or Elementary).
3. Scripture memory verses and a song to sing together.
4. Prayer prompts and family activities that correspond to the lesson.
Please consider setting aside at least 10-15 minutes once a week for a family devotional time using this resource as a guide. We are hoping The Gospel Project At Home will help keep all of our LEFC kids “on the same page,” and feed their faith in Jesus.
This might be especially helpful if for some reason your child has to miss a week of Children’s Church. You can show them the Bible story video to keep them up to speed on what the other children are learning.
**Note: The first time you access the link, you will need to register a free account with Lifeway’s Ministry Grid. This will also provide you ongoing access through the “training” tab to many other discipleship resources including the Gospel Project at Home for previous weeks. Many hours of excellent things to absorb for free!
