Feeding the Faith of LEFC Families
TFT: Blended Families
May 25, 2025
Dear LEFC Families,
It’s been a full Spring of ministry here at LEFC, and we’re just getting ramped up for a fun-filled summer! When planning your summer fun, be sure to include our LEFC fellowship opportunities on your calendar!
Congrats, Grads!
Today we celebrated our LEFC graduates during the service. Congratulations to the Class of 2025! If you haven’t already, consider sending well-wishes to Doug, Kelcey, Kayleigh, and Meizhen.
Preparing Your Teen for College
Congratulations to our graduating seniors and their families! We are proud of and pleased for you. Graduating is the culmination of a long process. Last year on Graduation Sunday, Pastor Matt recommended a good book for parents on how to get our teens to the point where they are ready for college and, more importantly, ready for adult life as followers of Christ. It’s never too early to start.
Touch a Truck at the Good News Cruise
The Good News Cruise will be held on August 16th, and we’ll once again be incorporating Touch a Truck for the kids. Mark your calendars to join us for a fun-filled day!
Family Bible Week Volunteers
Family Bible Week is fast approaching! This year’s FBW will be July 7-13. We will soon have a volunteer sheet in the foyer to sign up to help in various ways. If you’re thinking about helping out directly with the kids and don’t yet have your clearances and paperwork submitted to become a Family Ministries volunteer, see Jenni or Jordyn to get those started now!
Save the Date for Family Night
Our next family night will be June 6th. Bring the whole family out to LEFC from 6-8 for a free dinner, fun, and fellowship connecting with old friends and getting to know new ones!
“Freedom from the Philistines” Kids Bible Class Devotional
You have free access to a family devotional based on the curriculum our kids are studying each week in KBC! It’s called “The Gospel Project at Home.” Today’s Bible Study is “Freedom from the Philistines” (Volume 3: Unit 9: Session 4), and the devotional can be found at this link.
Visit the Family Ministries page on our website for information about how to access The Gospel Project at Home for the first time.
And for Dessert…
Our recommendation for family discipleship this week is a podcast episode about how to be a really good parent in a healthy blended family.
Scott and Deana Thayer were recently interviewed on the Practice Makes Parent Podcast from Focus on the Family. Hosts Danny Huerta and Rebecca St. James asked the Thayers great questions about what it takes to successfully blend two families into one after a re-marriage and all of the “ins and outs” of being a step-parent (as well as being a bio-parent!) in a blended family. The Thayers, who have 5 children between the two of them (who are now all adults), had insightful answers and great ideas for meeting the challenges of blended families.
This is a really good episode to listen to even if that isn’t your family situation because we all know many families that are blended. As we understand what other families are facing, we can help each other follow Jesus together.
Listen to the whole episode: “The Land of Step Parenting”
We hope our families eat it right up!
