“Hosea, Prophet to Israel” Kids Bible Class Devotional

You have free access to a family devotional based on the curriculum our kids are studying each week in KBC! It’s called “The Gospel Project at Home.” Today’s Bible Study is “Hosea, Prophet to Israel” (Volume 5: Unit 14: Session 3), and the devotional can be found at this link.

Visit the Family Ministries page on our website for information about how to access The Gospel Project at Home for the first time.

And for Dessert…

Our recommendation for family discipleship this week is a graphic novel for kids about the inspiring Christian Olympian athlete Eric Liddell.

I (Pastor Matt) love watching the classic movie “Chariots of Fire.” Aside from the wonky 80’s soundtrack (which I also love), it holds up really well as a film.* The movie tells the story of Scottish runner Eric Liddell and what he did (and didn’t do) at the 1924 Olympics. It is compelling storytelling and, for a secular movie, even does a decent job of representing Liddell’s winsome Christian convictions.

But there is so much more to the story!

In Eric’s Greatest Race, Christian author Tim Challies and illustrator Paul Mignard set out to tell the fuller story (with neat pictures!) of Liddell’s life and ministry–starting with his childhood in China and spanning all the way to his imprisonment and death during World War II.  And throughout it all, Eric trusted in our Lord.

Eric Liddell’s life and death exemplified the declaration of the Apostle Paul, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day–and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing” (2 Timothy 4:7-8).

Liddell’s story, with all of its unexpected twists and turns, is worth knowing and learning from, and now young readers can grasp it in 125 quick-reading pages.

Eric’s Greatest Race is available for checkout in the children’s section of the church library.

* This is not a recommendation that all families watch the movie “Chariots of Fire.” That movie has elements that are not suitable for little ones. Remember to use discernment whenever screening films created by non-Christians.

We hope our families eat it right up!
