This is one of the most famous of the stories in 1 Samuel: The calling of the prophet. We teach it to our kids in Sunday School and read it at home. Often, the main point of this story is overlooked in the telling. The point is that God is planning something good for Israel. He has not given up on His wayward people! God is calling….a prophet.
