Snow Day – LEFC Worship at Home Guide

Dear Church Family,

Here is a simple 10-step guide to worship that your family could use to glorify the Lord together at home during the snowstorm this weekend.

See you next Sunday!

LEFC Home Worship Guide
January 25, 2026

1. Welcome to Worship

Find a comfortable place to sit and greet everyone present (Romans 16:16).

2. Worship in Bible Memory

Begin your family’s time of worship by reciting Psalm 27:1 together:

“The LORD is my light and my salvation–whom shall I fear?
The LORD is the stronghold of my life–of whom shall I be afraid?”

[Some families may want to repeat verse 1 several times trying to help each other commit it to memory. Some families may want to read Psalm 27 in its entirety.]

Have someone pray and ask God to bless your time of worship at home.

3. Worship in Singing

As a household, sing “Join All the Glorious Names!” by Isaac Watts.  [Lyrics and piano accompaniment.]

Some families may want to sing “My God Is All I Need” in addition or instead. [Lyrics and music.]

4. Worship in Unity

Recite together the Nicene Creed (first crafted in 325 AD):

WE BELIEVE in one God–
the Father Who rules over all,
the Maker of heaven and earth,
of all things seen and unseen.
AND WE BELIEVE in one Lord, Jesus Christ,
the only begotten Son of God,
eternally begotten from the Father,
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made,
of one essence with the Father.
Through Him all things were made. For us humans and for our salvation
He came down from heaven and became incarnate
by the Holy Spirit and through the Virgin Mary
and became human.
For our sake He was crucified under Pontius Pilate;
He suffered death and was buried,
and on the third day He rose again
in accordance with the Scriptures;
He ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory
to judge the living and the dead,
and his kingdom will have no end.AND WE BELIEVE in the Holy Spirit,
the Lord and giver of Life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son.
With the Father and the Son He is worshiped and glorified.
He has spoken through the Prophets.

AND WE BELIEVE in one holy, whole, and apostolic Church.
We recognize one baptism symbolizing the forgiveness of sins.
We look forward to the resurrection of the dead
and the life of the age to come.

Amen.

5. Worship in Thanksgiving and Lament“Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn” (Romans 12:15).

Share with your family those things you are celebrating and those things you are lamenting this week.

6. Worship in Prayer

Take prayer requests and pray for each other. Pull out last week’s prayer guide and pray for the requests listed in it. Read this week’s Lanse Link and pray for items being planned.

Remember to pray for all those who have to be out in the bad weather, especially those who are helping people in emergencies.

7. Worship in Scripture Reading

Have someone read Psalm 2 to prepare to listen to Pastor Matt’s message.

8. Worship in the Word

Watch or read Pastor Matt’s message from December 2020, “My Son.”

This psalm is quoted in the very next section of Hebrews chapter 1 that we will be studying when we gather again. Reminding ourselves of what it says can help us to understand Hebrews 1 better and keep our eyes focused on Jesus.

Some families may also want to watch sermons on some other key passages that are quoted in Hebrews 1:

Psalm 45 – “A Wedding Song”
Psalm 110 – “Sit At My Right Hand

Some families may want to watch or read the message on their own and then have a Bible study and discussion together during this time. Some may want to review last Sunday’s message, “The Son.

Families with young children could take this time to utilize The Gospel Project at Home (a free resource for all LEFC Families!). Today’s Bible Study is “Esther Saved Her People” (Volume 6: Unit 17: Session 4), and the devotional can be found at this link. This is the lesson they would have received if they had Kids Bible Class this weekend. Visit the Family Ministries page on our website for information about how to access The Gospel Project at Home for the first time.

9. Worship in Singing

Sing “O Come, All Ye Faithful.” [Lyrics and piano accompaniment]

Some families may want to simply sing the chorus.

Families with young children may want to sing, “Jesus Strong and Kind” in addition or instead. [Lyrics and music.]

10. Worship All Week

Have someone pray a prayer of commissioning for your family as you end this time of gathered worship and face a week of new opportunities and new challenges to serve the Lord, the church, and the world in His Name.

Don’t forget the LEFC Family Worship Playlist that you can have playing all day long as you watch the snow fall!
