Church Family News

New Youth Meeting
Before our full launch this September, our Youth Group is going to meet TONIGHT at 7:00 for a kick-off. We’ll have games, a short service project, and Bible study. Youth Group is designed for LEFC students and their friends in 7th grade and up (including recent graduates). Looking forward to meeting everyone tonight – and remember your Bibles!

Baptism Classes
Pastor Matt is offering a new class on baptism, 8:30-9:30am August 25th (Part A) and September 1st (Part B). Learn all about the theology and practice of water baptism at LEFC! See Pastor Matt for more details.

Pavilion Estimates
The church is now accepting estimates from contractors for building the pavilion. Please see Randy Albert for details, specifications, or questions. You can reach Randy at (814) 205-8905.

Explore The Bible At Home
Many adults in our church are utilizing the Explore the Bible resources to dig deeper into God’s Word. Pick up your free copy of Acts 13-28 and join as we study this through the Fall Quarter, which is starting in September. These booklets are available in the foyer.

KBC Classes Updates
Our KBC classes will be starting a new curriculum on September 1st. Little Learners are age 3 to Kindergarten. Bible Explorers are 1st grade to 3rd/4th grade. Please make sure your child/children are going to the appropriate classes. If you have any questions, please see Vicky Albert.

Spikes Tickets
If you ordered tickets for the Spikes game on Saturday, August 24th, please have the money in to Bonnie Dobash or Jenni English before Thursday, August 15th so that Bonnie can purchase the tickets. Tickets were $11 each. If you would still like to go, please sign up before August 15th so we can ensure you a ticket. If you have any questions, please see Bonnie Dobash.
*Please note: Children ages two and under are not required to have a ticket for a game. The general rule of thumb is that if a child is small enough to sit on a parent’s lap, then the child does not need to have a ticket. However, if the child wants to receive a promotional giveaway, they must have their own game ticket.

Director of Family Ministry Update
The LEFC Elders have announced that they are presenting Jordyn Skacel to the congregation to be our very first Director of Family Ministry. Jordyn has been a part of the West Branch Community for her whole life and is a graduate of Penn State University. For the last seven years, she has been serving as a missionary with Cru, along with her husband Abe, making disciples for Jesus at PSU. She is the mother of Spurgeon, Wilson, and a baby due in December.
Jordyn has been volunteering as a leader on the Family Ministries Team since November of 2023. Jordyn would love to talk with you about her vision for future ministry to children, youth, and parents. The congregation will be making a decision together on August 18th. We’re excited for this development as we’ve been praying and working towards this new position for nearly two years.

LEFC Fall Retreat
Join your LEFC church family for a weekend getaway on October 18-20! The Family Ministries Team is excited to invite you to our Fall Retreat, where we will hear teaching and grow spiritually, build community, experience rich fellowship, share meals, and have lots of fun! All ages are encouraged to attend and will have a place to engage during age-specific breakouts. You’ll have opportunities to play games, eat a s’more around the campfire, chat with old friends and get to know new ones!
The camp is just one hour away, and transportation can be provided if needed. The cost is $25 for an individual and $50 for couples and families, which covers housing, food, and activities for the weekend. We’ll even be back in time for church on Sunday! See Jordyn Skacel, Holly Crumrine, or Vicky Albert with questions. Registration information is on the table in the foyer.

Join Us at Prayer Meeting
Each Wednesday at 7:00pm, a group of Christians meet to pray and to study God’s Word in the Prayer Room. We are going through a study of the book of Psalms. Nobody is put on the spot to pray out loud, but all are encouraged to attend and help lift up the needs of our church, community, nation, and world.

Community Group
The community group meets Sunday evenings at 7:00pm in the Skacel home for fellowship and Bible study. People of all ages are welcome (including kids!). See Abe or Jordyn Skacel if you want to check it out!
