Church Family News

GOOD NEWS CRUISE

We are looking for a bunch of people willing to work just a few hours helping us spread the GOOD NEWS! Here are some ways you can help.

Door Prize Donations – We hope to send many guests home with a special prize. We have letters in the foyer for local businesses thanking them for their past help and a promise to purchase something from their business as an added thank you. You can also donate car care items to be used as door prizes. Have all donations to the church by August 18th at 4pm. No time to shop? Drop a donation into the offering plate. Mark it “Door Prize” and we will pick up items for you.

Or sign-up for any of the following:

Sweet Treats – Need volunteers to bake cookies and brownies. Please have them here no later than noon on August 19th.

Kitchen Help – Help is needed to set up and clean up the kitchen and serving area, serve food, or assist those serving with any needs and get needed supplies.

Welcome and Registration – Work in the registration tent to welcome and gather name, address, and vehicle info for exhibitors. Assist with registration forms and fill out window cards.

Parking Assistance and Trraffic Control – Direct exhibitors to photo area and to permanent parking spots. Also need individuals to assist with spectator parking and directions.

Roaming Greeters – Roving attendees that will interact with exhibitors and spectators. Greet exhibitors and thank them for attending. Open converstations, create relationships, offer invitations to LEFC or a quick prayer.

Setup and Tear Down – We need people to help setup our campus before the car show and tear down after.

Sign-up sheets are in the foyer on the bulletin board.

Welcome Home the Mitchells

Join us after the service today for snacks and refreshments to welcome Pastor Matt and Heather home and to thank them for their 25 years of ministry at LEFC.

Water Bottles and Gift Bags

Many hands make light work! We need several people to stay after the service on Sunday, August 6th to help wrap water bottles and stuff give away bags in the fellowship hall.

Note From District Superintendent

Kerry Doyal, our district superintendent, thanks LEFC and the Elders for leading and serving during the sabbatical and investing in our Pastoral couple.

Mens’ Restroom Project

Please excuse our dust as the work in the mens’ restroom continues. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we update this room. Men: the family restroom is open for you to use throughout this project.

Director of Family Ministry

The job description for the new part-time ministry position is posted in the foyer. If you are interested in knowing more about the vision for this new role at LEFC, talk with any of the church elders.

Serbia Storm

North Serbia was hit with one of the worst storms in years. Darko Vika’s son Stefan and his wife Mariana along with six other families lost the roof of their building. Mariana has set up a Go Fund Me page to help raise money for themselves and their neighbors to repair damages from the storm and to be a witness to their neighbors of God’s love, testifying to them with words and examples about God’s care and salvation that God offers to everyone. If you are interested in donating, go online to “Help Repair Damaged GoFundMe by Marianna Moreira”, or click on the link in the Lanse Link.

Snack and Yack

When the auditorium empties after worship, young people in grades 3-7 who heard the sermon are invited to meet in Pastor Matt’s office for a snack and a brief interactive conversation about today’s message. To help kids listen closely, they can fill out a “Snack n’ Yack Notes” handout. Parents are always welcome to join in, too!

Community Group

The community group meets Sunday evenings at 7pm in the Skacel home for fellowship and Bible study. People of all ages are welcome (including kids!). See Abe or Jordyn Skacel if you want to check it out!

Ladies’ Fellowship Hour

Ladies, join us Wednesday, August 2nd at 10:30am for a time of fellowship with one another, praying for one another and missionaries, reading Scripture, and enjoying occasional snacks. Lois Owens will be leading. All ladies are invited to attend.

Join Us at Prayer Meeting

Each Wednesday at 7:00pm, a group of Christians meet to pray and to study God’s Word in the Prayer Room. Joel Michaels is leading us through a study of Acts. Nobody is put on the spot to pray out loud, but all are encouraged to attend and help lift up the needs of our church, community, nation, and world.

This Week in Kids Bible Class

What makes people special? People are special because God made us in His own image. Today, the Little Learners and Bible Explorers will be studying the book of Nahum learning how Nahum warned of God’s judgement. Resources for family worship centered on this lesson are available through the link you will receive in “The Family Table” email arriving this afternoon. For more information about this week’s lesson, check out The Gospel Project Big Picture Card for Volume 5, Unit 15, Session 2 which your family received in your mailbox.

Explore the Bible at Home

Many adults in our church are utilizing the Explore the Bible resources to dig deeper into God’s word. Pick up your free copy of Jeremiah; Lamentations and join as we study this week with Session 9: Worthy. The Summer quarter resources are available in the foyer.

Giving Opportunities

Designated giving funds are open for door prizes for our Good News Cruise, deaconess compassion fund to help those in need within our church family, and a future pavilion here at the church. Please mark your gifts and drop them in the offering plate.

Sermon Publications

Missed a Sunday? You can read, listen to, or watch the message online in multiple ways throughout the week (YouTubeFacebookApple & Google Podcasts, SpotifyPastor Matt’s blog, or the LEFC website [audiovideo]). Audio CDs are also available in the foyer under the community bulletin board. Need help subscribing or finding a particular sermon? See Misty Michaels.

Email Subscriptions

We want everyone to know what is happening at LEFC! Are you on the “All Church Notifications” email list to get key announcements such as cancelations and other schedule changes? Subscribers also receive “The Lanse Link,” our weekly news bulletin. In addition, parents can subscribe to “The Family Table,” a Sunday newsletter filled with useful resources for family discipleship.
