Church Family News

New Youth Group!
The youth group will begin meeting on Sunday evenings at 7:00pm starting this evening. All students in grades 7 and up are invited to come for games, snacks, and fun while learning to study our Bibles together. This Fall, the youth group will be learning to grow closer to God by studying the book of Ephesians. See Cody and Holly Crumrine for more information.

Celebration Sunday Fellowship Dinner
Previously, there were inserts in your bulletin regarding the meal we will be having on Sunday, October 6th for Celebration Sunday. We would like as many of those back by today for a rough idea on attendance and dishes so that the Hospitality Team can get prepared. If you need an insert, they are on the table in the foyer. Please see Linda Carlson for any questions.

Volunteers Needed For Outdoor Work Day
The Facilities Team is looking for help with spreading some mulch and stone, putting sealant on “the Ark,” and a couple of other smaller outdoor projects. It should only take a couple of hours. The outdoor work day begins at 8:00am on Saturday, September 28th. See George Leathers or any other member of the Facilities Team with any questions.

Pastor Matt’s Prayer Retreat
On Tuesday October 1st, Pastor Matt will be devoting the day to praying for our Lanse Free family. He would love to specifically pray for you and your family’s needs. Please fill out the prayer card in your bulletin and drop it in an offering plate on your way out today.

See You At The Pole
All are invited to join West Branch’s Fellowship of Christian Athletes for a time of prayer at the school’s flagpole. Students will meet at 7:15am this Wednesday, September 25th. Adults, please park at Gethsemane, walk to the flagpole, and join the kids as they pray for their school.

Missionary Christmas in September
Each year we collect a special offering aimed to bless the missionaries we support and give them some extra money to use in whatever way they like. Donations will be accepted throughout the month of September. There are envelopes in the foyer on the resources tables or you can mark your gift “Christmas” and drop it in the offering plate.

Kentucky Missions Teams Interviews
If you have indicated an interest in joining one of the Crisis Response teams we are sending to Hazard, Kentucky in July and August 2025, please see Curtis Quick to get your interview scheduled soon with the Missions Ministry Team (email: lefcmissions@gmail.com, call or text: 814-404-3798).

Blessed to Be a Blessing
The West Branch Area Churches will be holding a “Blessed to Be a Blessing” generosity fair Sunday, October 6th from 2:00-3:30pm at Gethsemane UMC. In advance of this event, they are raising funds for the Neighbors Helping Neighbors Fund to help people in our community that have financial difficulty. You can donate by marking your gift “Blessing” and dropping it in the offering plate.

Church Office
Our church office is open every week, Tuesday – Friday from 8:45am – 2:15pm. You can reach Jenni in the office by phone (814-345-6500) or email at churchoffice@lansefree.org. If you would like information to be in next week’s bulletin, please have it in by 1:00pm Thursday. Last minute prayer requests need to be submitted to the office by 9:00am on Friday.

Director of Family Ministry
Jordyn Skacel serves as our Director of Family Ministry. She is happy to meet with you at the church, in her home, in your home, or in public, with or without kids! Catch her at church or contact her via phone, text, or email, (814) 592-9280 or families@lansefree.org to schedule a time to meet. She’d love to hear your ideas, how you’d like to be involved, and to be a resource for your family.

Snack and Yack
When the auditorium empties after worship, young people in grades 3-7 who heard the sermon are invited to meet in Pastor Matt’s office for a snack and a brief interactive conversation about today’s message. To help kids listen closely, they can fill out a “Snack n’ Yack Notes” handouts that are in the foyer. Parents are always welcome to join in, too! Leading this week is Keith & Pennie Folmar.

Ladies’ Fellowship Hour
Ladies, join us on Wednesday mornings at 10:30am for a time of fellowship with one another, praying for one another and missionaries, and reading Scripture. All ladies are invited to attend.

Join Us at Prayer Meeting
Each Wednesday at 7:00pm, a group of Christians meet to pray and to study God’s Word in the Prayer Room. We are going through a study of the book of Psalms. Nobody is put on the spot to pray out loud, but all are encouraged to attend and help lift up the needs of our church, community, nation, and world.

Community Group
The community group meets Sunday evenings at 7:00pm in the Skacel home for fellowship and Bible study. People of all ages are welcome (including kids!). See Abe or Jordyn Skacel if you want to check it out!

Explore the Bible at Home
Many adults in our church are utilizing the Explore the Bible resources to dig deeper into God’s Word. Pick up your free copy of Acts 13-28 and join as we study this week with Session 4: The Gospel. The Fall quarter resources are available in the foyer.
