Teens from around the country will gather to worship, learn, serve, and have a blast in Kansas City, MO this July 13-17. Registration is now open for all students grades 6 and up, including seniors. The registration deadline is quickly approaching! Talk to Cody or Holly Crumrine if interested. The registration deadline is today! Register via this link.
Christian Content for Yotos
Have you heard of the Yoto player? I (Jordyn) love these little screen-free audio players and have them for my kids. They can just pop a card in and the player will play content, whether narrating books, telling
stories, or playing music. But here’s the best part: there are Yoto cards with Christian content! If your child loves the Tiny Theologians podcast, which we highly recommend, they can hear Mr. Truman’s songs on the accompanying Yoto cards! You can also check out Kaleidoscope Kids Yoto Cards, offering several books of the Bible and adding new ones every few months (and check out their accompanying resources, too!). And finally, Tales that Tell the Truth has created a card with several of their engaging Children’s books, some of which were featured at our book fair! Happy listening!
Egg Your Yard
Support our Challenge students! Friends and family of LEFC can wake up to their own personal egg hunt on Easter morning for a suggested donation of $50 for 100 eggs or $75 for 150 eggs. Deliveries will be made the evening of April 4th, rain or shine. Reservations and payment due March 28th. You can register online with this link or by filling out a registration form on the table in the church lobby.
LEFC Family Worship Spotify Playlist: New Link!
Did you know we have a Spotify playlist of the songs we sing in church on Sundays? This playlist was created as a resource for families to use in their homes, for personal worship time, in the car, and on the go. Due to recent staff changes in our office, the playlist now has a new link! Check it out here.
Egg Hunt at the Ark Park 2026
This year’s Egg Hunt at the Ark Park is Saturday, April 4th at 10:00am! We are currently accepting donations of candy for the eggs along with prizes. We also have a sign up sheet to volunteer during the hunt. Consider ways that you might be able to help welcome the community to our church campus to hear the Good News of Easter and enjoy a fun morning together. Drop any donations under the table in the foyer!
This Week’s Challenge: Preparing for Easter
What do your plans look like for Easter this year? Are you hosting a meal and thinking through what might go on your grocery list? Planning out the egg hunts you might attend in addition to our Egg Hunt at the Ark Park? Jotting down a packing list to travel to see family? Holidays often create busy schedules and involve lots of preparation. It’s easy to get caught up in the running around and planning. But, have you thought about how you might prepare your child’s heart for Easter? Even if you don’t hide a single egg for finding, don’t dye a single egg, and forget to order the perfect Easter dress for church, spending quality time with your child talking about the story of Jesus’ resurrection will be far more valuable. This week’s challenge is to plan how you might spend time marveling at the story of Easter in your home. Here are a few ideas to get you started:
Skim through your child’s Bible and bookmark the Easter story for reading through at bedtime. Check out FamilyLife’s Resurrection Eggs, recommended here a few weeks ago. Take a look at Tiny Theologians’ Easter resources, one of which is an upcoming podcast available on most streaming platforms. For older children (viewer discretion is advised), watch the Jesus film together as a family (or check out their other, shorter videos) and discuss what you watched. The important thing is that you plan to do something to engage your child’s heart this Easter as we celebrate Jesus’ resurrection.
“Wise Men Visited Jesus” Kids Bible Class Devotional
You have free access to a family devotional based on the curriculum our kids are studying each week in KBC! It’s called “The Gospel Project at Home.” Today’s Bible Study is “Wise Men Visited Jesus” (Volume 7: Unit 19: Session 3), and the devotional can be found at this link.
Visit the Family Ministries page on our website for information about how to access The Gospel Project at Home for the first time.
And for Dessert…
Our recommendation for family discipleship this week is a brand new children’s book that encourages boys that–whatever they are like and whatever they like to do–to follow Jesus and use their strength to move toward people and problems in love and wisdom.
In It’s Good To Be a Boy: A Celebration of All That God Made You To Be, my (Pastor Matt’s) friend Champ Thornton has teamed up with illustrator Hsulynn Pang to create a celebration of boyhood in God’s good design which cheerfully counters some of the current confusion about gender that plagues our culture.
This book is a “sibling” to the one we featured last week in The Family Table and just as good. Every page brims with action, potential, and love. Thornton doesn’t fall into tired stereotypes and shows the breadth of healthy options for what a boy can grow into being as a godly man.
Everything about it is the opposite of toxic, including the refrain:
“Let love and wisdom guide your way
To help with problems every day.
High-five, praise God, and shout for joy
Because it’s good to be a boy!”
I appreciated how Champ showed how boys can be like Jesus in a multiplicity of ways by telling the stories of Joseph, David, Nehemiah, Ezra in the Bible, as well as, Eric Liddell, William Wilberforce, George Herbert, and Francis Grimke in church history.
– It’s Good to Be a Boy is available in the church library for check out.
– Learn more and download free extras at The Good Book Company
– Read our recommendations of other books by Champ Thornton: Countdown to Calm and The Radical Book for Kids.
I hope that It’s Good To Be A Boy gets read many many many times!
May the Lord bless your kids (both girls and boys!) as they learn how God has gifted them for serving Him.
