Why Is This Sordid Story in the Bible? – 25 May 2014

We continue walking through 2 Samuel moving on to a profoundly sad story about yucky, repugnant, disgusting sin. And yet, this is God’s Word. All “Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that [we] may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:16.

So why is this sordid story in the Bible? Ponder these four reasons:

1. Because The Bible Is About Reality
2. Because The Bible Teaches That Sin Has Consequences
3. Because The Bible Gives A Voice To The Victimized
4. Because The Bible Reminds Us That Our LORD Is Sovereign Over Everything.
