Feeding the Faith of LEFC Families

The Family Table – November 27, 2022

November 27, 2022

Dear LEFC Parents,

I hope your family enjoyed the Thanksgiving holiday and are looking forward to celebrating Advent. Do you have your own family traditions for the Advent season? Our family has made use of the LEFC Advent Readings from year to year, often re-reading what was shared in church and lighting our own candles each Sunday evening. We also do Advent Calendars and have read special books throughout the month leading up to Christmas. This is a great time of year for reminding ourselves of the story of the promised Messiah.

The Gospel Project at Home

Today, our Children’s Church continued their Bible study in The Gospel Project with Volume 3, Unit 8, Lesson 2 – “God Gave the People the Land.” Follow this link to find resources for a family devotional time based on this lesson. [Free one-time registration required.]

If your student was in Little Learners or Bible Explorers this morning, they received a coloring page and take-home sheet that corresponds to this lesson. You have also been given a full-color Big Picture Card that you can use to reinforce the lesson with your child, as well. We are hoping The Gospel Project At Home will help keep all of our LEFC kids “on the same page,” and feed their faith in Jesus.

Worldview Training for Youth

“Ideas Have Consequences.” Keith Hurley and his team are continuing to offer a worldview training class for youth (grades 7-12) in the upstairs Youth Room every other Sunday evening at 7:00pm. The next class is next Sunday – December 4th. I hope your teen can participate.

And for Dessert…

This week’s recommended resource is a giant list of new Advent Resources compiled by Brett McCracken of The Gospel Coalition. There is a 75 song playlist (two-thirds traditional carols and one-third newer original Advent and Christmas songs) a bunch of other things including good books for both adults and kids. I look forward to McCracken’s list each year (here is 2021‘s). I hope your family eats it up.

Blessings,

Pastor Matt

P.S. By the way, the Westminster Bookstore I mentioned a few weeks ago has a great big Advent sale going on right now (up to 60% off, which might be helpful as you prep for Christmas.)
