Back to School Bash
We’re excited to let you know about our Back to School Bash, happening on Back to School Sunday, August 23rd! Stay after church to enjoy lunch as well as games and activities for the kids. Youth Group and Junior Youth Group Start Dates
Our Youth Group and brand new Junior Youth Group will kick off for the school year on September 13th! Be sure to let your 7-12th and 4-6th graders know and prepare for them to get involved!
Everyday Discipleship Cards
Tiny Theologians recently highlighted one of their resources for families to guide their discipleship conversations in their home. Everyday Discipleship Questions to Help Families Grow Together is a set of 100 cards designed to help families cultivate faith-filled conversations wherever they are! Each card features questions for meaningful engagement with God’s word. These cards can be used with children of any age, as each question is thoughtfully reworded for specific age ranges, allowing parents to contextualize the conversation for their unique family. This Week’s Challenge: Turn Your Ride into a Time for Worship
Does your family have a favorite hymn, worship song, previous Family Bible Week song, or kids worship song? Do your kids have a favorite that you find them singing over and over again?
This week’s challenge is to take advantage of just one car ride and sing that song together as a family. Maybe you have littles that are too young to sing along or teens that you’ve never heard sing in church. Don’t let that stop you from turning it on and singing yourself! You never know what might happen as a result. Let this serve as a reminder to your kids that singing is one of the ways we can worship our God and that it can be done anywhere!

Our recommendation for family discipleship this week is collection of simple songs of scripture set to music that you kids will probably remember for a very long time.
One fantastic way to get God’s Word into our hearts is to sing it!
(opens in new tab)When our (Mitchells’) kids were young, we would play the CD “Sing the Word from A to Z”(opens in new tab) by the Harrow Family many evenings when we were doing family devotions. Our kids loved them. The album consists of 26 songs following the alphabet from “All Have Sinned (Romans 3:23)” to “Zion Hears and Is Glad (Psalm 97:8-9).”
They are catchy, singable, and memorable. I would guess that even though it’s been more than a decade since we sang them as a family, all four of my adult kids could sing most of the words of each of the twenty-six songs.
Our church family sings one of them regularly–“Jesus Christ Is the Same (Hebrews 13:8),” set to the tune of “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star.” We’ll be singing it even more as we near the end of Hebrews in our current sermon series.
Nowadays, you don’t need a CD player to have music to sing to. The music is streamable from major music apps and includes versions that includes vocals or are instruments-only. Play them on your phone, your home speaker, or your car radio.
The Bible says, “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God” (Colossians 3:16).
“Sing the Word from A to Z” is a great way to put that verse to work in your family’s life.
