Calling All Moms: Mom’s Night Out!
Moms with children in the home or those who are expecting are invited to join us on May 16th at 7:00 at the church for a fun night of conversation, fellowship, plenty of snacks, a craft, and an engaging guest speaker. Take this opportunity to get out of the house and gather with fellow moms for a soul-refreshing evening! Nursing babies are welcome. Last year, we had a wonderful time together. The event is free, but registration is highly encouraged so we can plan well. Register here to attend!
Family Bible Week 2026
Family Bible week is fast approaching! We’ll kickoff the week together on June 14th during church and gather Monday through Thursday at 6:15 for Bible teaching, singing, fun and fellowship. We’ll be shining a light on who Jesus really is at our Illumination Station! Mark your calendars now to join us, and spread the word to invite your friends, too!
Child Protection Policy Meetings
Are you a parent of an LEFC child or a Family Ministries volunteer (have submitted your clearances with us)? On June 1st, we will be rolling out our new Child Protection Policy. This policy brings with it some new changes to our children’s programs that you need to be aware of. We have scheduled meetings, as detailed below, to introduce you to the new policy and the changes that it will bring. We want to make sure that on June 1st, you are prepared and that confusion is avoided. We will share important information with you and answer any questions you may have so that you feel informed and equipped. If you are unable to attend these dates, please speak with Jordyn Skacel.

This Week’s Challenge: Serving Like Jesus
Matthew 20:28 says, “just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve…” Jesus’ life was marked by serving others, and it stands as an example for us in our own lives. This week’s challenge is focused on serving. Parents, you may feel like your whole life is constantly filled with serving your children, bathing them, making their meals, washing their clothes, etc. and in many ways, it is. Don’t lose heart, what you are doing is kingdom work and is seen by our Father. He delights in your sacrificial serving of the children he has given you.
This week’s challenge is to help your kids learn to do the same. Help your children think of one way they can serve another this week. Dads, maybe help your kids to serve Mom by switching a load of laundry for her, making dinner, or vacuuming out her car. Moms, you could consider using this opportunity to have your children pack Dad’s lunch for him, make his morning coffee, or mow the yard for him. Or, consider serving someone outside of your family and help your kids come up with ideas, such as pulling weeds for an elderly neighbor, volunteering somewhere for a few hours, or cleaning up litter in a local park. Your investment in teaching your children to live a life of service will send them out into the world one day as the hands and feet of Jesus.
“Jesus’ Ministry Began” Kids Bible Class Devotional
You have free access to a family devotional based on the curriculum our kids are studying each week in KBC! It’s called “The Gospel Project at Home.” Today’s Bible Study is “Jesus’ First Followers” (Volume 7: Unit 20: Session 4), and the devotional can be found at this link.
Visit the Family Ministries page on our website for information about how to access The Gospel Project at Home for the first time.
And for Dessert…
Our recommendation for family discipleship this week comes from one of our very own LEFC youth, Copper Crumrine! Copper shares with us about one of the ways his family grows in their faith together:
“Every Sunday afternoon, my family and I do something called “Prayer Journals.” First, we talk about the sermon that we heard that day, and we think about the key points of it. Then, we discuss what we should write about. If the sermon is about love, we might write about how we can love each other and love God, and we also might write how thankful we are that God loves us so much. After we finish writing, which usually takes about 5 to 10 minutes, we take some time to share what we wrote in our own prayer journals with the rest of the family, but sometimes we write about personal things, which we don’t always share. Prayer journals are a good way to connect with your family, and more importantly, God. It can also be good to look back on what you’ve written in the past, so you can see how much you’ve grown, and how God has answered your prayers.
In conclusion, I think prayer journals are great. It can help you connect with your family and God, help you grow spiritually, and helps you become better at praying.”
Thanks to Copper for sharing about Prayer Journals with us!
We hope your family eats it right up.
