Calling All Moms: Mom’s Night Out!

Moms with children in the home or those who are expecting are invited to join us on May 16th at 7:00 at the church for a fun night of conversation, fellowship, plenty of snacks, a craft, and an engaging guest speaker. Take this opportunity to get out of the house and gather with fellow moms for a soul-refreshing evening! Nursing babies are welcome. Last year, we had a wonderful time together. The event is free, but registration is highly encouraged so we can plan well. Register here to attend!

Family Bible Week 2026

Family Bible week is fast approaching! We’ll kickoff the week together on June 14th during church and gather Monday through Thursday at 6:15 for Bible teaching, singing, fun and fellowship. We’ll be shining a light on who Jesus really is at our Illumination Station! Mark your calendars now to join us, and spread the word to invite your friends, too!

Child Protection Policy Parent Meetings

Are you a parent of an LEFC child? On June 1st, we will be rolling out our new Child Protection Policy. This policy brings with it some new changes to our children’s programs that you need to be aware of. We have scheduled meetings, as detailed below, to introduce you to the new policy and the changes that it will bring. We will share important information with you and answer any questions you may have so that you feel informed and equipped. If you are unable to attend these dates, please speak with Jordyn Skacel.

  • Parent Meetings (strongly encouraged but not required)
    • All parents of LEFC children who have not attended the teacher briefing or volunteer orientation
    • Choose either:
      • May 17th after church OR
      • May 31st after church

Tiny Theologians Bestsellers Back in Stock

Tiny Theologians has restocked two of their bestselling resources! Tiny Systematics is a resource that we would have had at our book fair if it had been in stock then. It’s a workbook that introduces kids to the core doctrines of the Christian faith, integrating teaching and activities. Tiny Apologetics helps kids explore tough questions such as “Why do bad things happen?” and “How do we know the Bible is true?”. Check out these workbooks, and others, on their website.

This Week’s Challenge: Pray for the Lost

Are there people in your life who do not know Jesus? Someone you would love to see come to faith? Past of our commission as believers is to “go and make disciples” (Matthew 28:19). But, we don’t all need to have the gift of evangelism to play a part in bringing others to faith. One thing that everyone can do is to pray for those who do not yet know Jesus.

This week’s challenge is to create a list of three people in your life who are currently lost without faith in Christ. Then, commit to regularly praying for them and their salvation. Pray for open doors to have conversations with them, that other believers would come into their lives, too, and that God would turn their hearts to Him.

“Jesus’ Ministry Continues” Kids Bible Class Devotional

You have free access to a family devotional based on the curriculum our kids are studying each week in KBC! It’s called “The Gospel Project at Home.” Today’s Bible Study is “Jesus’ First Miracle” (Volume 7: Unit 21: Session 1), and the devotional can be found at this link.

Visit the Family Ministries page on our website for information about how to access The Gospel Project at Home for the first time.

And for Dessert…

Our recommendation for family discipleship this week is an superb podcast episode helping parents navigate the uncharted waters of the newest technology that is changing so many things around us.

Artificial Intelligence is everywhere these days. What seemed before like science fiction is fast becoming a fact of every day life. How many times have you heard the letters “A.I.” referenced this week? How should Christians think about A.I. and how, especially, should Christian parents relate to it with our children?

The most recent episode of “Recorded” from the Gospel Coalition is an hour-long exploration of those questions that includes interviews with experts, current news stories, and relevant wisdom for parents. They introduce the episode with these sobering words:

“If we’ve learned anything from our last two technological waves—smartphones and social media—then we know one thing: Those who are probably going to be most harmed by AI are our kids.

AI is already taking over their education. It’s trying to build emotional relationships with them. And it might take away their jobs. But our theology tells us AI doesn’t surprise or alarm God. He is sovereign over this too.

So how can we calmly and clearly see what’s happening and then protect, guide, and prepare our children?

Join Sarah Eekhoff Zylstra as she sorts out fears, finds the facts, and proposes a faithful way to parent in the age of AI.”

I (Pastor Matt) listened to the episode on my vacation last week and really appreciated how Zylstra showed both the promise and the dangers of AI. It wasn’t all “doom-and-gloom” but it also wasn’t “cake-and-ice-cream” either. And the timeless reminders of what God has promised and is always doing are timely, as well. These are clearly things parents should be thinking about in the brave new world that is coming upon us. It’s well worth sixty minutes of your time.

Read or listen to the whole thing.

We hope your family eats it right up.
