The Family Table

Feeding the Faith of LEFC Families

TFT: Lights, Camera, Action Bible!

February 2, 2025

Dear LEFC Parents,

Here are some nourishing items to set the table for disciple-making in your family this week.

You’re Invited to Family Night!

Join us for Family Night on the evening of February 21st from 6:00-8:00! We’ll have a time of fellowship together as families of LEFC playing games and socializing. Dinner will also be provided. Invite your friends to come enjoy a fun evening!

Winter Jam

The Youth Group plans to attend Winter Jam on March 8th at the Bryce Jordan Center. They would love to meet to go together to the concert with any other LEFC families who would like to attend. If you plan to attend the concert, see Holly or Cody Crumrine so they can coordinate with you. And teens, don’t forget to mark your calendars!

Register for Summer Camp!

Has your child ever considered attending a summer camp at Miracle Mountain Ranch? Now is a great time to think about registering for one of their various camps! Visit their website to learn more about camp offerings, dates, and costs. Next week we have the joy of welcoming Donnie Rosie from the Ranch to our church as well, so consider asking him about camp. See Marilynn Kristofits with questions or for more information!

Costumes for KBC

Are you gifted in sewing and crafting? Our Kids Bible Classes are looking for volunteers to help create costumes for the kids to use in various performances. Please see Vicky Albert for more information!

Easter Egg Hunt 2025

Mark your calendars now for the LEFC Easter Egg Hunt on April 19th, the day before Easter. Be thinking about how you might want to volunteer to help out in various ways. We will also be looking for donations of candy and prizes when the time comes.

Volunteer Opportunities for Family Bible Week

Family Bible week will be held July 7-13, 2025. We have several volunteer opportunities that we would love for some of our LEFC parents to fill. We need teachers and helpers for nursery, Pre-K-K, 1st-3rd, and 4th-6th, members of the decorating team, kitchen help, games helpers, members of the worship rally team, photography/videography, security, and a finale team. See Jordyn Skacel if you have interest in filling any of these vital roles, or to get more information about each.

“The People Grumbled” Kids Bible Class Devotional

You have free access to a family devotional based on the curriculum our kids are studying each week in KBC! It’s called “The Gospel Project at Home.” Today’s Bible Study is “The People Grumbled” (Volume 1: Unit 6: Session 1), and the devotional can be found at this link.

Visit the Family Ministries page on our website for information about how to access The Gospel Project at Home for the first time.

And for dessert…

This week’s recommendation for family discipleship is a giant comic book collection of Bible stories sure to delight many kids (and some parents, too!).

I (Pastor Matt) have always loved comic books. I grew up reading and collecting them. I love how they blend bold writing and exciting images to tell a marvelous story.

When I was a kid, I would have worn out a copy of The Action Bible from Brazilian artist Sergio Cariello!

Cariello who has drawn comics for both Marvel and D.C. has now illustrated 215 Bible stories in exciting full and living color! The stories are told in chronological order, so that it even feels a bit like a translation and can help young, impressionable, and visual learners to get a feel for the overarching narrative of the whole Scriptures.

If your child is enjoying the book of Daniel right now, you might want to turn to those stories to see how Cariello imagines the metallic statute of Nebuchadnezzar’s dream, the fiery furnace with Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, and Daniel spending the night with the lions!

Of course, there is more to the Bible than action stories. We need to make sure our kids learn the Psalms, the Proverbs, and the Letters, too. We shouldn’t let a book of stories take the place of an actual Bible, but The Action Bible can be a great supplement to the Scriptures and a fun gateway into their exciting treasures.

We have a copy in the church library available for checkout, and a collection of 90 “Anytime Devotions” based on The Action Bible. I think that kids ages 8 to 12 might really get into that!

A newer version is also available for sale online. The Action Bible website has even more information.

The Action Bible tells the most marvelous story there ever will be.

We hope your family eats it right up!
