Mom’s Night Out: This Week!

Register here to attend!
Moms with children in the home or those who are expecting are invited to join us this Saturday, May 16th at 7:00 at the church for a fun night of conversation, fellowship, plenty of snacks, a craft, and an engaging guest speaker. Take this opportunity to get out of the house and gather with fellow moms for a soul-refreshing evening! Nursing babies are welcome. Last year, we had a wonderful time together. The event is free, but registration is highly encouraged so we can plan well. Register here to attend!
Junior Youth Group
We have exciting news for kids who will be in grades 4-6 next year! We’re upgrading Snack and Yack into a brand new ministry: Junior Youth Group! We’re excited to bring students a full evening meeting, not just a few minutes after church, where they can learn, grow, foster friendships, and take new steps in their faith. Beginning May 31st, the Snack and Yack ministry will cease as we prepare to launch our Junior Youth Group in the fall, led by Curtis Quick and Marilynn Kristofits! We encourage you to get your students excited for this brand new ministry. More details are still to come!
Family Bible Week 2026
Family Bible week is fast approaching! We’ll kickoff the week together on June 14th during church and gather Monday through Thursday at 6:15 for Bible teaching, singing, fun and fellowship. We’ll be shining a light on who Jesus really is at our Illumination Station! Mark your calendars now to join us, and spread the word to invite your friends, too!
Child Protection Policy Parent Meetings
Are you a parent of an LEFC child? On June 1st, we will be rolling out our new Child Protection Policy. This policy brings with it some new changes to our children’s programs that you need to be aware of. We have scheduled meetings, as detailed below, to introduce you to the new policy and the changes that it will bring. We will share important information with you and answer any questions you may have so that you feel informed and equipped. If you are unable to attend these dates, please speak with Jordyn Skacel.
- Parent Meetings (strongly encouraged but not required)
- All parents of LEFC children who have not attended the teacher briefing or volunteer orientation
- Choose either:
- May 17th after church OR
- May 31st after church
Tiny Theologians Bestsellers Back in Stock
Tiny Theologians has restocked two of their bestselling resources! Tiny Systematics is a resource that we would have had at our book fair if it had been in stock then. It’s a workbook that introduces kids to the core doctrines of the Christian faith, integrating teaching and activities. Tiny Apologetics helps kids explore tough questions such as “Why do bad things happen?” and “How do we know the Bible is true?”. Check out these workbooks, and others, on their website.
This Week’s Challenge: Honoring Mom
It’s Mother’s Day! Praise God for the faithful moms in our lives who continually serve us, love us unconditionally, and are our biggest fans. This week’s challenge is to do something special to honor the moms who are meaningful to you. Write a card telling her the things you appreciate about her, how much you love her, or the ways she has impacted you. Maybe make her a special meal or take her out to dinner. Make her a special craft. Buy her a special gift. Give her hugs. Consider what would make the moms in your life feel loved!
“Jesus’ Ministry Continues” Kids Bible Class Devotional
You have free access to a family devotional based on the curriculum our kids are studying each week in KBC! It’s called “The Gospel Project at Home.” Today’s Bible Study is “Jesus at Passover” (Volume 7: Unit 21: Session 2), and the devotional can be found at this link.
Visit the Family Ministries page on our website for information about how to access The Gospel Project at Home for the first time.
And for Dessert…
Our recommendation for family discipleship this week is a beautiful devotional about what makes a girl beautiful.
On the first page of What Makes You Beautiful?, Kristen Wetherell, a mom who cares deeply about her two girls, writes:
“Every girl wants to be beautiful. (This includes older women, like me!) Isn’t that why you’re reading this? Something made you curious enough to pick up this book. Some part of you longs to know, What makes me beautiful? How would you answer that question? What makes you beautiful? Is true beauty defined by how you look? Is it based on the things you’re good at doing? Is beauty about how popular you are or your social media followers or the friendships you have?
Our culture would answer, ‘Yes, yes, and yes!’ The world tells us to find our worth and value— our beauty—in appearance, accomplishments, and relationships. It tells us to look within ourselves and to compare ourselves to others. We are even told by stores and social media that we can create the beauty we’re looking for! But deep down in our hearts, we know these things won’t make us happy. They might make us feel beautiful for a moment, but the happiness fades. At the end of the day, what we long for is to be told ‘You’re beautiful’ by someone who really matters.”
Then in the rest of this lovely 164 page devotional book, Wetherell guides her girls into an exploration of what that Someone who really matters says in His Word about their beauty. There are 20 readings and each one is beautifully illustrated (with flowers!) and includes a poem, a related Bible verse, a concise devotion, and a brief prayer. There is a ribbon bookmark and lined pages on which to write personal reflections. The author also includes book recommendations and a 10-day Bible reading plan.
I (Pastor Matt) would recommend it for any and all of the women in my life.
