Church Family News

Communion Sunday

Today we will be passing communion plates for those partaking in the auditorium. The deaconesses will have pre-packaged communion elements for anyone, inside or outside, who would prefer to use them as we worship together at the Lord’s Table. We now have a gluten free option for those with special dietary needs.

Children’s Church

Interested in helping with children’s church? As this ministry is expanding, we are looking for more classroom assistants. If anyone would like to get more involved, see Pastor Matt for more details.

Family Bible Week

The Family Discipleship Vision Team is hoping the church will have a Family Bible Week this summer. If you are interested in helping with teaching, games, skits, or any other needs that go with FBW or have questions on how you might be involved, see Pastor Matt.

Quarterly Church Family Meeting

The next church family meeting will be held April 24 following the service. We will be sharing ministry updates, new members, plans for a pastoral sabbatical, and  upcoming facility improvement projects.

Resurrection Sunday Celebration

Plan now to come on Sunday April 17 at 10:00am for our special celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Afterwards stay and join us for coffee and pastries.

Volunteer Needed for Outdoor Floral Display

For Resurrection Sunday this year, we’d like to set up a floral display outside to celebrate the resurrection and provide a place for families to take a picture together after the worship gathering. If you have ideas for creating that display, see Pastor Matt. 

Church Workdays

Have you been thinking about how you might be able as a family or an individual to have fellowship with other people from our church and at the same time provide a service to the church? These opportunities may be for you! Cemetery Clean Up Day Join the Facilities Team as they clean up the church cemetery this Tuesday at 1:00pm. Bring your rakes and leaf blowers. Come and go as you need. Workday At the Church On Saturday, May 7, our Facilities Team will be sprucing up our church grounds. They will clean up the leaves, plant some grass, and repair any damage to the ground from the plowing. Bring your rakes and leaf blowers at 9:00am and lend a hand!

360 Leadership Institute

Trinity International University if offering a two-week student leadership program from June 18 to June 30 for teens aged 15-18. The registration cost is $900 and includes food, room, transportation to field locations, and 360LI merchandise. For more information go to www.tiu.edu/undergrad/360-leadership-institute.

West Branch Ministerium Scholarship

The H. Lee Hebel Memorial Scholarship is an annual scholarship given to a high school graduate or those pursuing a second career, and will, in the next 9 months, be enrolled in college, seminary, or Bible school. They should be pursuing full time Christian service, including pastoral ministry, counseling, youth ministry, or teaching in a Christian school. Applications should be postmarked by April 15 and can be found in the foyer on the Community Bulletin Board.

Cemetery Care Bids

The Facilities Team is now accepting bids for cemetery mowing this Summer. Mowing will begin as soon as the grass needs its first trim and will conclude in mid to late fall depending on the weather. You are responsible to provide your own gas and equipment. If you have any questions or to submit your bid, please see George Leathers or any other facilities team member (Bryan Sones, Todd Dobo, Jim Beveridge, Don Carlson, or Keith Hurley) by April 10.

West Branch Ministerium Lenten Services

Each year the Ministerium plans Lenten Services on Sunday evenings throughout our area. A schedule of this location and speakers for these services is located on the Community Bulletin Board in the Foyer.

Designated Giving – ReachGlobal

With Ukraine in crisis due to the brutal conflict unfolding in this eastern European country, ReachGlobal is mobilizing to support the refugees displaced as they flee the conflict. We have opened a designated giving fund here at church to partner with their efforts. Prayerfully consider a gift to help our brothers and sisters as they minister to those in need. Mark your gift “Ukraine” and drop it in the offering plate.

 Summer Camp – Join Us!

Thirteen campers and one volunteer are heading up to church camp this summer! All campers qualify for a $40 group discount. The cost per camper for regular camp (ages 8-18 – various weeks) is $230 and Buckaroo camp (ages 6-9) us $70. (June 23-25) Information is available in the foyer. Our designated giving fund has money to support two more campers. Consider joining our group.

Explore the Bible at Home

Many adults in our church are utilizing the Explore the Bible resources to dig deeper into God’s word. Pick up your free copy of 1, 2 Thessalonians and join as we continue our study this week with Session 5: Demonstrated.

Giving Opportunities

Designated giving funds remain open for our deaconess compassion fund to help those in need within our church family, and a future pavilion here at the church.  Be sure to mark your gifts and drop them in the offering plate.
