Worldview Training for Youth
“Ideas Have Consequences.” Keith Hurley is planning to offer a worldview training class for youth (grades 7-12) in the upstairs Youth Room every other Sunday evening at 7:00pm beginning September 11th. See him for more details.
Recommendations for Family Ministries
At last week’s church family meeting, the Family Discipleship Vision Team presented six formal recommendations for the congregation to prayerfully consider for next steps in our ministries to children, youth, and parents. These recommendations, including a draft of a potential job description for a future part-time director of family ministries, are available in the foyer to spark discussion among the church family. The next congregational meeting is scheduled for October 30th. If you have insights you want to share, talk with Pastor Matt or Cody Crumrine who are the elders overseeing the FDVT. Please keep praying for the FDVT as they continue their work.
There will be a deaconess meeting immediately following the service on Sunday, September 4th. Questions? See Renee Mostyn.
Children’s Church Meeting
The Children’s Church Team (teachers/helpers) will have a brief meeting on Sunday, September 11th after the worship gathering. See Pastor Matt if you have any questions about the meeting.
Interested in helping with children’s church? We are looking for one more regular classroom helper or two to three more occasional substitutes. See Pastor Matt for more details.
Our missionaries, Rich & Anne Hoyt, have recently moved. Their new address is: 217 W Evans St, Princeville, IL, 61559.
Join Us at Prayer Meeting
Each Wednesday at 7:00pm, a group of Christians meet to pray and to study God’s Word in the Fellowship Hall. Some who attend find it to be one of the most heartening hours of their week. Currently, Joel Michaels is leading us through a study of the Gospel of Mark. Nobody is put on the spot to pray out loud, but all are encouraged to attend and help lift up the needs of our church, community, nation, and world.
The “Fully Known” community, led by Meizhen Belko, would like to thank the church for their generous donation of Find Your People books for their faith-based book study. They were able to give the books away to all the young ladies who needed and wanted them.
Operation Christmas Child
Our church will once again participate in the OCC Shoebox campaign this year. With school supplies on sale, now is a great time to pick up some items in preparation for packing a shoebox to bless a needy child.
You Matter 5K & 10Mile Ride
The Pregnancy Resource Clinic will be hosting their annual 5k walk/run and 10Mile bicycle ride on Saturday, October 1st. For more information see the flyer on the Community Bulletin Board or visit their website scprc.com.
Volunteers Needed to Help Cru
Abe and Jordyn Skacel with Penn State Cru have a volunteer opportunity available. Cru will be administering digital QR code surveys to students on Aug 29-31 from 11am-1pm & 2pm-4pm on the University Park campus. This survey is used by Cru to gather new contacts for the year. Provided is a free shirt to wear. Volunteers would ask students as they walk by if they could take a quick survey and hold up the QR code to scan with their phones. You do not have to be there for the whole time. Any amount of time any day is valued. Anyone who would like to volunteer can contact the Skacels (Jordyn.skacel@Cru.org, Abraham.skacel@Cru.org) for more information!
Ark Park Meet n’ Play
Moms and their littles are invited each Wednesday for a time to play outside and have fun together! We’ll meet at the Ark Park at 9:00am or come and go as you please. The church building will be open for restrooms and water, and juice boxes will be provided. Event is cancelled in the event of rain.
Our Daily Bread
The latest edition of Our Daily Bread for September, October, and November is now available on the worship resource tables and by the Community Bulletin Board.
Explore the Bible at Home
Many adults in our church are utilizing the Explore the Bible resources to dig deeper into God’s word. Pick up your free copy of 1, 2 Kings and join as we finish our study this week with Session 13: God Moves. The Fall quarter resources are now available in the foyer. Pick up your free copy of Amos; Jonah; Hosea; Micah and be ready to join us in this study next Sunday with Session 1: Listen to God.
Designated giving funds remain open for our deaconess compassion fund to help those in need within our church family, for Ukraine to help ReachGlobal minister to the refugees, and a future pavilion here at the church. Please mark your gifts and drop them in the offering plate.
