Communion Sunday
Today we will be passing communion plates for those partaking in the auditorium. There are pre-packaged communion elements for anyone, inside or outside, who would prefer to use them as we worship together at the Lord’s Table. We have a gluten free option for those with special dietary needs.
Interested in a Spikes Game?
LEFC is headed to the State College Spikes on Saturday, August 24th! If you would like to attend, please sign up on the sheet out in the foyer with how many tickets you would like. Tickets will be $11 each. Deadline is today to sign up. Please see Bonnie Dobash or Jenni English if you have any questions.
Candidate for Director of Family Ministry
The LEFC Elders are pleased to present Jordyn Skacel to the congregation to be our first Director of Family Ministry. An active member of LEFC, Jordyn has been a part of the West Branch Community for her whole life and is an honors graduate of Penn State University. For the last seven years, she has been serving as a missionary with Cru, along with her husband Abe, making disciples for Jesus at PSU. She is the mother of Spurgeon, Wilson, and a baby due in December. Jordyn has been volunteering as a leader on the Family Ministries Team since November of 2023. All LEFC members are encouraged to attend a special meeting after the worship service on August 18th to hear more and make a decision together on hiring Jordyn for this new part-time ministry staff position. Talk to Cody Crumrine if you have questions. Thank you for praying for the Lord’s leading all through this long search.
LEFC Fall Retreat
Join your LEFC church family for a weekend getaway on October 18-20! The Family Ministries Team is excited to invite you to our Fall Retreat, where we will hear teaching and grow spiritually, build community, experience rich fellowship, share meals, and have lots of fun! All ages are encouraged to attend and will have a place to engage during age-specific breakouts. You’ll have opportunities to play games, eat a s’more around the campfire, chat with old friends and get to know new ones!
The camp is just one hour away, and transportation can be provided if needed. The cost is $25 for an individual and $50 for couples and families, which covers housing, food, and activities for the weekend. We’ll even be back in time for church on Sunday! See Jordyn Skacel, Holly Crumrine, or Vicky Albert with questions. Registration information is on the table in the foyer. You can register online here: https://forms.gle/jW5QgFuJ5ETwUKpz9

Giving Opportunities
Designated giving funds are open for the deaconess compassion fund to help those in need within our church family. Please mark your gifts and drop them in the offering plate.
Offering
Thank you for continuing to support our ministries and missionaries. The offering plates are available at the back of the auditorium. Gifts can also be mailed to the church or given electronically through your bank’s bill pay program or through online platforms: PayPal and Venmo. Our account address is churchoffice@lansefree.org. Questions? Contact Jenni English.
Snack and Yack
When the auditorium empties after worship, young people in grades 3-7 who heard the sermon are invited to meet in Pastor Matt’s office for a snack and a brief interactive conversation about today’s message. To help kids listen closely, they can fill out a “Snack n’ Yack Notes” handouts that are in the foyer. Parents are always welcome to join in, too! Leading this week is Cody & Holly Crumrine.
Ladies’ Fellowship Hour
Ladies, join us on Wednesday mornings at 10:30am for a time of fellowship with one another, praying for one another and missionaries, and reading Scripture. All ladies are invited to attend.
Join Us at Prayer Meeting
Each Wednesday at 7:00pm, a group of Christians meet to pray and to study God’s Word in the Prayer Room. We are going through a study of the book of Psalms. Nobody is put on the spot to pray out loud, but all are encouraged to attend and help lift up the needs of our church, community, nation, and world.
Community Group
The community group meets Sunday evenings at 7:00pm in the Skacel home for fellowship and Bible study. People of all ages are welcome (including kids!). See Abe or Jordyn Skacel if you want to check it out!
Explore the Bible at Home
Many adults in our church are utilizing the Explore the Bible resources to dig deeper into God’s Word. Pick up your free copy of Acts 1-12 and join as we study this week with Session 10: Calling. The Summer quarter resources are available in the foyer.
This Week in Kids Bible Class
Why should we praise Jesus? We should praise Jesus for what He has done to provide for our salvation and because He will one day make all things right. Today, the Little Learners and Bible Explorers will be studying 1 Thessalonians 4-5 learning about how We Are Here to Make Much of Jesus. Resources for family worship centered on this lesson are available through the link you will receive in “The Family Table” email arriving this afternoon. For more information about this week’s lesson, check out The Gospel Project Big Picture Card for Volume 12, Unit 35, Session 6 which your family received in your mailbox.
