Church Family News
Church Family Meeting
The church family meeting is today immediately after worship in the auditorium. Members will receive updates on finances, facilities projects, and plans for future ministry. See chairman Keith Folmar with any questions.
“The Family Table” Email
Starting today at noon, all parents of LEFC Kids will be receiving a weekly email called “The Family Table.” This new Family Ministry initiative is designed to provide helpful resources for feeding the faith of our LEFC families including access to a family devotional guide centered on the lesson being taught each week in Children’s Church. Grandparents, guardians, care-givers and other adults who want to make disciples of the next generation are also invited to sign up to receive “The Family Table.” Confirm your email address with Misty Michaels (churchoffice@lansefree.org) today.
Today’s Guest Speaker
Donnie Rosie joins us today to fill in for Pastor Matt. Donnie serves as the Director of Marketing for Miracle Mountain Ranch. His wife, Tonya, homeschools their four kids. Together they help teach and mentor the students enrolled in the School of Discipleship. Be sure to talk with Donnie after the service today!
Celebration Choir
The choir will be rehearsing on Thursday, November 3rd at 7:30 in preparation for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and morning worship services. Please note the time change. Contact Amy Jo Belko with any questions.
Celebration Sunday Fellowship Meal
Our Hospitality Team is organizing a fellowship dinner with missionary Caleb Lucien Sunday, November 13th following the worship service. We are looking for people to bring a 6-quart crock pot of chili or soup or to provide a dessert. The sign-up sheet is in the foyer on the table in front of the bulletin board. Planning to stay after church for this meal? Please fill out the RSVP form in the Lanse Link or fill out the insert in the bulletin and drop it off in the offering plate.
Deaconess Compassion Fund
Our Deaconess Compassion Fund helps assist families with a gift to help ease their financial strain. Prayerfully consider supporting those in our church family experiencing a crisis by giving a gift to the deaconess fund. Use the small envelopes found on the resource tables or mark your gift “Deaconess Compassion Fund”.
Nursery Meeting
The Nursery Team will have a brief meeting on Sunday, November 6th after the worship gathering for current nursery workers and anyone interested in joining this ministry team. See Becky Schiefer if you have any questions about the meeting.
Daylight Savings Time
Next week we ‘fall back’ out of daylight savings time. Be sure to set your clocks back one hour on Saturday night (November 5th) so you arrive at the proper time for our worship gathering on November 6th.
Church Family Budget Meeting
The annual budget meeting will be held Tuesday, November 15th at 6:00pm. All interested people are invited to join the Elder Board and help make the budget plans for 2023. Leaders of ministries and committees who use church funds are asked to bring or send along their ministry’s needs and recommendations to this meeting. See Keith Folmar if you have any questions.
Thanksgiving Baskets
The deaconesses are collecting donations of food items to help brighten the Thanksgiving holiday of needy families in our community. Nonperishable items may be brought to the church through November 20th. Our deaconess team will prepare all donations for safe delivery to needy families in our community. Please be sure to check the expiration dates on your donations to ensure they are fresh. If you know of any families who could use a basket this holiday season, please get in touch one of our Deaconess team members: Sylvia Gisewhite, Becky Hubler, Heather Hurley, Betty Leathers, Cindy Michaels, Renee Mostyn (Lead), or Ildiko Schall.
Operation Christmas Child
Our church is once again participating in Operation Christmas Child, sponsored by Samaritan’s Purse. If you feel led to pack a shoebox for a child, take one of the boxes in the foyer and fill it up. The shoeboxes need to be returned to the church by Sunday, November 13th. Please bring any extra items that don’t fit in your shoeboxes as often we need an item or two to fill out other boxes. Each box will cost $10 to ship. If you are interested in sponsoring one or more of the shoeboxes we hope to send, mark your donation “Shoeboxes.” Questions? See Mary Beth Moslak.
Help Needed – Decorating Project
A volunteer or two is needed to reorganize the church family photos in the hallway to fit in another decade of photographs. If you have an eye for decoration or love hanging pictures, see Pastor Matt to find out what all is involved.
Pastor Appreciation Month
October is Pastor Appreciation Month. Remember to thank Pastor Matt & Heather for their hard work, sacrificial dedication, and multiple blessings they have provided to us by serving our Lord here at LEFC. As our gift of appreciation to Pastor Matt & Heather, we sent them to the Allegheny District Pastors and Wives retreat last weekend.
Mission To Malawi?
The Missions Ministry Team is prayerfully exploring the possibility of a short-term missions trip to Malawi in the future to work with our missionaries, Fred & Cindy Cressman. If this is something you may be interested in, see Curtis Quick for more information.
LEFC Book Club – Praying the Bible
Praying the Bible by Donald Whitney is our newest book to read as a church family. There are multiple copies on the table next to the church office door–one per participating family. Pick up yours and start reading today! Are you interested in participating in a pop-up class to discuss what the book teaches in a group setting? See Abe Skacel who is our new coordinator of adult discipleship pop-up classes to find out more.
Worldview Training for Youth
“Ideas Have Consequences.” Keith Hurley is offering a worldview training class for youth (grades 7-12) in the upstairs Youth Room every other Sunday evening at 7:00pm. Make plans now to join them November 6th for their next class. Questions? See Keith Hurley.
Ladies’ Fellowship Hour
Ladies, are you interested in meeting with other women for a time of fellowship with one another and supporting each other in your faith? During the Ladies’ Fellowship Hour, women will enjoy visiting with each other, praying for one another and missionaries, reading Scripture, and enjoying occasional snacks. Join us each Wednesday at 10:30am in the fellowship hall. If you have questions or ideas, see Judy Carlson or Ruth Murray. All ladies are invited to attend.
Join Us at Prayer Meeting
Each Wednesday at 7:00pm, a group of Christians meet to pray and to study God’s Word in the Fellowship Hall. Some who attend find it to be one of the most heartening hours of their week. Pastor Matt is leading us through a study in Exodus. Nobody is put on the spot to pray out loud, but all are encouraged to attend and help lift up the needs of our church, community, nation, and world.
This Week in Children’s Church
What is the Bible? The Bible is God’s Word. Today, the Little Learners and Bible Explorers will be studying Joshua 1 and learning how God encouraged Joshua. Parents, reinforce today’s lesson by asking your kids what they learned in class and talking about how it might apply to their lives in the week ahead. More resources for family worship centered on this lesson are available through the link you will receive in “The Family Table” email arriving this afternoon. See Misty Michaels to confirm your email address. For more information about this week’s lesson, check out The Gospel Project Big Picture Card for Volume 3, Unit 7, Lesson 1 which your family received in your foyer mailbox this morning.
Explore the Bible at Home
Many adults in our church are utilizing the Explore the Bible resources to dig deeper into God’s word. Pick up your free copy of Amos; Jonah; Hosea; Micah and join as we study this week with Session 9: The Sin Harvested. The Fall quarter resources are available in the foyer.
Giving Opportunities
Designated giving funds remain open for our deaconess compassion fund to help those in need within our church family, OCC shoeboxes to help pay shipping costs, and a future pavilion here at the church. Please mark your gifts and drop them in the offering plate.
