From the Pastor

Dear Church Family,

“Both of them!”

I asked the kids at FBW one of my favorite trick questions. We were singing the song from Jesus’ parable about the two builders who constructed their homes upon two very different foundations: rock and sand (Matthew 7:24-29).

My question was, “Which of the two homes got rained upon? Upon which of the two homes did the storms of life beat down?” Sometimes we get the wrong idea that followers of Jesus are exempt from trouble and so then we get surprised and scared when the storms of life hit us with hurricane force.

But our FBW kids were not fooled. They yelled back, “Both of them!”

That’s right! The question is not whose house who gets wet, but whose house stands firm? The question is not whose life gets hit with trials, but who has built their life on Jesus and His teachings and who has not.

We’ve had a tremendous week of gathering together and reminding each other that Jesus Christ is a solid rock. I hope that each of our families were encouraged to start or renew their commitment to building on this firm foundation ready for whatever storms may come. May Jesus Christ be forever praised!

In His Grip,

– Pastor Matt

P.S. I can hardly wait for next Sunday to sing with everybody together at our old familiar worship time of 10:00am. Let’s raise the roofs of our building and the worship tent!!!

Family Bible Week News

Family Bible Week Finale – Outdoor Service

Join us on July 25th for our FBW Finale. This will be an outdoor service on the Ark Park side with the tent. Bring your lawn chairs and portable shade and join us as we cap off our Family Bible Week with worship. The kids will be invited to the 5th lesson during the service. In the event of rain, the service will move indoors. Plan to stay after for our first full fellowship meal since January

Family Bible Week – Thank You

Thanks to the many who helped make this past week such a success.  Pray that the lessons on building your life with a foundation of Christ would be put into action by the kids who attended our program.

Church Family News

Communion

Prepare your hearts as we will celebrate the Lord’s Supper next week during our morning worship gathering at 10:00. Prepackaged communion elements will be available with the worship bulletins for those participating on-campus, whether inside or outside.

Good News Cruise 2021

Good News Cruise 2021 is just around the corner, and we are looking for a bunch of people willing to work just a few hours helping us spread the GOOD NEWS! We do that so many ways: You can help by registering our guests, parking cars, helping stock our food and coffee tables, or simply roaming around and greeting people that day. Our cruise is all about people, not just their cars! We want to be sure to focus on the guests to our church campus and begin building relationships with as many of them as possible. Sign up today to help make this event a success.

Door Prize Donations & Sweet Treats

An easy way to help with our Good News Cruise is to support our door prize donations. You can either go out and buy some car-related items or make a donation to the church and we will purchase these give-away items. Thank you to Scout Troop #46 for the donation of all the car care products from their truckload sale last weekend. It is a great start for our door prizes. Another way to help is through a “Sweet Treat.” This year we are providing soda/water/coffee, prepackaged chips, and baked goods. If you are willing to bake something sweet for this year’s event, please sign up in the foyer. We ask that all items arrive pre-packaged (think bake sale) so we can set them on the table for self-service grab-and-go. Thanks!

Follow the Lord in Water Baptism

We are planning a baptism service for August/September. If you would like to learn more about what it means to follow Christ in water baptism, talk to Pastor Matt for options that fit your schedule. Classes will be set up to meet individual scheduling needs.

Every Believer Confidant

Are you ready to face the challenges to the Christian faith that arise all around us? In the course of one weekend, you can gain the confidence to defend and share your faith confidently. The “Every Believer Confidant” conference is coming to First Baptist Church in Clearfield PA.  More information can be found in the foyer.
