Youth Group and Junior Youth Group Start Dates

Our Youth Group and brand new Junior Youth Group will kick off for the school year on September 13th! Be sure to let your 7-12th and 4-6th graders know and prepare for them to get involved!

Everyday Discipleship Cards

Tiny Theologians recently highlighted one of their resources for families to guide their discipleship conversations in their home. Everyday Discipleship Questions to Help Families Grow Together is a set of 100 cards designed to help families cultivate faith-filled conversations wherever they are!

  • Contextualized for Your Family: Each card features questions for meaningful engagement with God’s word. These cards can be used with children of any age, as each question is thoughtfully reworded for specific age ranges, allowing parents to contextualize the conversation for their unique family.
  • Where to Use Them: These cards would be great to use around the dinner table, on the drive to school, or at bedtime.

Youth Group Instagram

Our Youth Group has a brand new Instagram account, lansefreeyouth(opens in new tab)! Follow along to be encouraged by what our Youth Group is up to and share the account with your 7th-12th grade family and friends so they can get a glimpse of what it might look like for them to participate as well!

This Week’s Challenge: Giving

As adults, we know that giving is an important part of our Christian walk. Practicing generosity is important, as well as meeting needs that we are able with the financial resources that we are given by the Lord. Giving also helps us put money in the proper place, helping us flee from greed and idolization of it.

This week’s challenge is to help your kids learn about giving as well:

  1. Take some time to talk about why giving is important, and maybe share some ways that you, as their parent(s) give your money.
  2. Help them pick out somewhere that they would like to give their own money as well.

If you need ideas, you could suggest:

  • Giving to one of our missionaries (see Curtis Quick for how to do that)
  • Supporting the Crisis Response Team as they prepare to head to Florida
  • Using this EFCA page(opens in new tab) to help them find something that interests them.

We encourage you, as their parent(s) to do this as well. It could be as simple as bringing them alongside you as you drop your regular gift in the offering plate, or go ahead and pick a special giving initiative right alongside them. Remember, the best way to teach your kids is to be a model for them!

Our recommendation for family discipleship this week is the entire bundle of videos from Challenge 2026(opens in new tab).

It’s been two weeks since our Challenge Group returned from Kansas City and shared about their experience(opens in new tab) at the EFCA’s biennial national youth gathering. The whole church was encouraged(opens in new tab) to hear what the Lord did in and through our teens and their leaders. [Watch their recap video for a refresher.(opens in new tab)]

(opens in new tab)This week, ReachStudents made the entire suite of teaching videos from this year’s conference available for free on the EFCA website(opens in new tab).

Each of the main messages unpacked one of the Psalms, the divine songbook in the center of our Bibles. The Psalms give us God’s Words to pray and sing back to Him whatever the circumstances we find ourselves in and however we are feeling:

In addition, the collection also includes extra videos that give a better sense of the whole conference including the church planting special offering(opens in new tab) and the hilarious emcee, Brandon Early(opens in new tab).

I (Pastor Matt) haven’t watched them all, but I am confident that they are worthy of your teen’s (and your!) attention whether or not they got to attend this time around. I got to go to Challenge in 2014, 2016, and 2018, and they were of a similar high quality.

Some Christian youth conferences are mostly hype. Thankfully, Challenge is much more challenging.
