Dads & Kids Mario Kart Tournament: This week!

Dads and Kids, coming up in just under two weeks, join us on the evening of Friday January 16th at 6:00 for a Mario Kart Tournament! Spend an evening connecting with your kid(s) and other families playing Mario Kart on various gaming systems, snacking, and spending some time in the Word. This is a special event for dads and kids to enjoy together. See Jordyn if you’re able to provide a gaming system with Mario Kart, a spare TV we can use, or are willing to bring a snack along!

Moms & Kids Playdate

Our monthly Moms & Kids Playdate is this Thursday from 9-10 in the Fellowship Hall. Kids can play together with provided toys and games while moms enjoy fellowship with one another. Moms who are at home with their kids are encouraged to join us!

WinterCON

Students in grades 6-12, you’re invited to join us March 13-15 at WinterCON, a conference that will encourage you to go deeper in your walk with God and grow your ability to live out your faith in your everyday life. Taking place at the Kalahari Resort in the Poconos, one of the largest indoor water parks in the country, you’re sure to have a meaningful and fun weekend with us! Abe and Jordyn Skacel are planning to lead the group from LEFC. For more information, visit the website and see the FAQ sheet that you may have received in your church mailbox. If interested in attending, please let Jordyn know ASAP. For more information, email [email protected].

Egg Hunt at the Ark Park 2026

Save the date for this year’s Egg Hunt at the Ark Park on Saturday, April 4th at 10:00am!

This Week’s Challenge: Scripture Memory

Have you noticed that we have a new memory verse this month at LEFC? Psalm 27:1: “The Lord is my light and my salvation–whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life–of whom shall I be afraid?” This week’s challenge is to spend some time on scripture memory with your family, whether memorizing this verse or another. You could use last week’s dessert recommendation, Songs for Saplings, to aid you or, to memorize Psalm 27:1 with us, check out Everlasting God, recorded here by Cru Worship, which has Psalm 27:1 embedded into it in a refrain. It’s a catchy, soulful worship song and is one you will likely find getting stuck in your head, which is exactly what you want to happen when memorizing scripture! Give it a listen to memorize along with us!
“Rebuilding the Temple” Kids Bible Class Devotional

You have free access to a family devotional based on the curriculum our kids are studying each week in KBC! It’s called “The Gospel Project at Home.” Today’s Bible Study is “Rebuilding the Temple” (Volume 6: Unit 17: Session 2), and the devotional can be found at this link.

Visit the Family Ministries page on our website for information about how to access The Gospel Project at Home for the first time.

And for Dessert…

This week’s recommendation for family discipleship is an encouraging interview with Pastor Jack Wilson about being a faithful “Church Dad.”

For the last twenty years, Pastor Jack is the senior pastor of Waterdam Church (the hosts of our Allegheny District Stay Sharp Conference) and one of my (Pastor Matt’s) friends. Pastor Jack is a loving husband of Melissa and a “girl-dad” with three adult daughters. I’ve learned a lot over the years from watching Jack in action both as a pastor and a family man.

So, I was pleased to learn that one of the men from Waterdam church and one of his friends had started a new initiative called Church Dads to encourage Christian fathers to grow into their biblical callings and had invited Pastor Jack on their new podcast as their first guest! Of course, I was going to listen to that!

In the interview, Jack shares a lot of his own story and especially what he prioritized in his family life as they raised their girls. I was encouraged by his characteristic humility, humor, and hopefulness. I’m guessing that some of the dads in our church would be inspired, too. Listen in.

By the way, Dads, don’t forget about the Mario Kart tournament this Friday night! Have fun with your kids, link up with other church dads, and…crush them all at video games! ??

May the Lord bless your families as you seek to follow Him.
