Feeding the Faith of LEFC Families

TFT: Back to School Prayer

August 17, 2025

Dear LEFC Families,

As we near the start of the school year, it’s a great time to start thinking about what new habits, rhythms, or routines might work well for your family in this new season. We encourage you to consider how you can prioritize your and your kids’ spiritual growth this upcoming year. What might you need to say “yes” or “no” to in order to put Christ first in your home? We’re here to help resource and equip you to make wise decisions for your family.

Youth Group Kickoff: TONIGHT!

Youth Group will kick-off for the school year TONIGHT at 7pm at the church! Make sure your 7th-12th graders attend, and of course, tell them to invite their friends! Tonight will be a fun night with a bonfire and catching up with each other, so it’s a great time to jump in if your child has never attended before. Parents, there is now a pop-up class happening at the very same time at the church, led by Keith Hurley. We encourage you to stick around while your student is at youth group to attend the class. Contact Cody or Holly Crumrine for more information.

It’s Back to School Sunday!

Today is Back to School Sunday! With kids transitioning into new grades this week, we are also transitioning here at LEFC! If your child is eligible, be sure to have them jump up to the next appropriate class or ministry as follows:

Little Learners for 3 year olds through Kindergarten
Bible Explorers for grades 1-3
Snack & Yack for grades 4-7
Youth Group for grades 7-12

Child Registration Forms

With the new school year upon us, we are updating our Child Registration Forms. These forms help us to care for your child well when under the supervision of our staff and volunteers and provide crucial information in case of an emergency. If you have not already filled this out and returned it at Family Bible Week or after church today, we ask that you do so and return it to Jordyn Skacel in a timely manner so that we have necessary information on file. We need one completed for each child who is participating in nursery through grade 6, and we ask that youth group participants submit one as well. You can quickly fill it out  online, find it in your church mailbox, or ask Jordyn Skacel or Jenni English to get you a copy. Thank you for your help in this area!

Tell Pastor Matt What Team Your Child Is On

Pastor Matt writes, “It’s hard to believe it’s fall athletics season once again! I love to drop in to see the kids of our church family play their sports, but I need to know when and where the games are. It’s hard to keep track of who is on what team. If you could send me your kids’ sports schedules for this new season, it will help me to make it to more games and spend some quality time with your family.”

LEFC Fall Retreat: Snag the Early Bird Discount!

Our Fall Retreat is coming up in one month! Join us at Seven Mountains Scout Camp for the weekend of September 19th-21st. “Solomon Thought about Life” Kids Bible Class Devotional

You have free access to a family devotional based on the curriculum our kids are studying each week in KBC! It’s called “The Gospel Project at Home.” Today’s Bible Study is “Solomon Thought about Life” (Volume 4: Unit 12: Session 3), and the devotional can be found at this link.

Visit the Family Ministries page on our website for information about how to access The Gospel Project at Home for the first time.

And for Dessert…

Our recommendation for family discipleship this week is a set of prompts for you to use as you pray for your kids as they head back towards school in the coming days.

It’s that time again! This morning during our worship gathering, we lifted up our teachers, aides, administration, bus-drivers, coaches, parents, and everyone else who is getting ready to go back to school.

The most important people to pray for are, of course, the students themselves. A few years ago, author and mother Melissa Kruger of The Gospel Coalition collected a helpful selection of prayer prompts for parents for their kids. There was a copy in everyone’s bulletin this morning.

She writes, “A few years back I ended the summer reading through the Psalms and Proverbs. As I drank in the wisdom of these two books, certain passages in particular have encouraged and directed my hopes for my children as they head back to school. These verses have shaped my prayers and given words to the longings of my heart.”

Kruger was interviewed about these prayer prompts in a 5 part series on the Haven broadcast which is well worth the listen:

1. Interview with Melissa Kruger
2. Pray for Your Child’s Salvation
3. For the Glory of God
4. Modeling a Life of Prayer
5. Hope for the Prodigal

We hope our families eat it right up!
