TFT: Get Away With Your Family
August 10, 2025
Dear LEFC Families,
As we near the start of the school year, it’s a great time to start thinking about what new habits, rhythms, or routines might work well for your family in this new season. We encourage you to consider how you can prioritize your and your kids’ spiritual growth this upcoming year. What might you need to say “yes” or “no” to in order to put Christ first in your home? We’re here to help resource and equip you to make wise decisions for your family.
Touch a Truck at the Good News Cruise: This Week!
The Good News Cruise is coming up this Saturday, and we’ll once again be incorporating Touch a Truck from 3:00-5:00 for the kids. Bring your kids out for some food and fun! Along with the touchable vehicles, we’ll have activities for kids, including a Hot Wheels car race, and each child will leave with a goody bag. Bring some friends along with you, too!
LEFC Harvest Party: Save the Date!
Save the date now for an upcoming Harvest Party on October 25th. We’ll gather together to enjoy fall-themed activities together on a cozy autumn evening. You can look forward to some quality time with your own family and with other families here at LEFC!
Back to School Sunday
Next Sunday (August 17th) is Back to School Sunday. We’ll be praying for the kids in our church family as well as the local schools. Parents, you will receive a new registration form to fill out for your kids for the new year if not already completed for Family Bible Week. Eligible students will also move up to the next class/program for their age. Double check that yours are planning to attend the correct class:
Little Learners for 3 year olds through Kindergarten
Bible Explorers for grades 1-3
Snack & Yack for grades 4-7
Youth Group for grades 7-12
Youth Group Kickoff
Youth Group will kick-off for the school year on August 17th, Back to School Sunday. Make sure your 7th-12th graders put it in their busy schedules to attend, and of course, tell them to invite their friends! We look forward to another great year of studying God’s word together!
“Solomon Built the Temple” Kids Bible Class Devotional
You have free access to a family devotional based on the curriculum our kids are studying each week in KBC! It’s called “The Gospel Project at Home.” Today’s Bible Study is “Solomon Built the Temple” (Volume 4: Unit 12: Session 2), and the devotional can be found at this link.
Visit the Family Ministries page on our website for information about how to access The Gospel Project at Home for the first time.
And for Dessert…
Our recommendation for family discipleship this week is that you get away with your family (and your church family!) to the 2025 Fall Retreat!
Last year was so good, we had to do it again!
Families often thrive when they escape the bounds of their normal routine and focus on spending quality time together. So do church families! Our church family is getting away together September 19-21 to Seven Mountains Scout Camp for a relaxed time in a beautiful woodland setting.
I (Pastor Matt) am looking forward to spending more unhurried time with folks. The highlight for me last year was seeing people who worship together on Sundays get to know each other better. The boys and men played wiffleball. The ladies and girls did a fun craft together. All generations played board games and did puzzles together. There was lots of laughing and talking over meals and a campfire. It was like the best kind of family reunion!
And while we are having a good visit, we are also helping each other grow in Christ. I get to be our speaker again this year, and I’m planning to take us back into the book of Proverbs. The wisdom there applies to every member of our families, young or old.
I’m pleased that this year our missionaries Caleb an Debbie Lucien of Vision of Hope Ministries in Haiti will also be joining us at the retreat. What a great opportunity for your family to spend time with someone from another culture!
I love that the Fall Retreat ends Sunday morning and is close enough that everyone can make it back to campus in time for our Celebration Sunday. We bring the fire in our hearts (and the campfire smell) back to share with those who couldn’t retreat with us.
Jordyn did a great job of planning out the whole schedule last year and arranging all the complexities of the housing, food, logistics. She can answer any question you have about what to expect. It is designed to be accommodating to families.
The cost to attend is only $50 for couples and families and $25 for an individual. There is a $5 early-bird discount if you register on or before August 24th. We want everyone to attend, so if the cost is a hardship, please tell Jordyn. Scholarships are available.
I’m excited that we’re having this event again this year and encourage you to sign your family up right now.
