Church Family News
Meet the Serbia Missions Team!
Next Sunday, we’ll be introducing the members of our Serbia Missions Team and learning how we can be involved in their trip.
Volleyball for Serbia
On Saturday, March 3rd, there will be a co-ed potluck volleyball tournament at the Gethsemane United Methodist gym. It’s open to anyone who wants to play! Registration will be from 9-9:45am, and the tournament will start at 10:15. We need people to play, run the concession stand, and donate baked goods, drinks (soda, bottled water, and Gatorade), hot dogs, sloppy joe, buns, and chips. All proceeds will go toward the Serbian Mission Trip Fund. If you can help out in any way, see Curtis Quick or sign up in the foyer!
New SS Class: “Jesus Final Week”
The Men’s and Women’s Sunday School classes just started a new set of lessons about the events of the seven days leading up to Jesus’ death and resurrection. Next week will be the Chapter 2, Monday: Clearing the Temple. Your copy of the curriculum is available in the foyer. Please take one for you or a friend, even if you can’t join us for class.
New Members
We now have 8 new church family members! Please welcome Tim and Kelly Beck, Cody and Holly Crumrine, Roper and Lita Houston, and Curtis and Stephanie Quick!
Baby Bottles
If you didn’t have a chance last week, there are baby bottles in the foyer. Take one home and fill it up with your loose change to support A Woman’s Concern ministry in State College. (Bottles will be due back the first weekend in March.)
LEFC Facebook Events
Did you know Lanse Free Church has a Facebook page? It’s updated 2-3 times each week with current events. There are also event pages for the upcoming Wild Game Dinner (February 25th) and Moody Men’s Collegiate Choir Concert (March 12th). “Like” us on Facebook and invite your friends to some free events!
Lenten Meals at Gethsemane
Gethsemane United Methodist Church in Allport will be serving meals to those in the community over 60 for $3 each week of Lent. Meals start Wednesday, February 22nd, and will continue for 6 weeks. Pastor Matt will be speaking at the meal February 29th. Proceeds benefit the West Branch Ministerium Fund. If you plan to attend, please let Nancy Morlock know by the Sunday prior so she can make reservations for our church.
Men’s Wild Game Dinner
Tickets are now available for the Wild Game Dinner on February 25! Please take a poster in the foyer to help us advertise. If you’re interested in being part of this ministry, talk to Tim Beck (Set Up & Take Down, A/V, Tickets) or one of the other team leaders: Wally Kephart (Prayer Team), Bryan Sones (Prizes), or Lonnie Kovalick (Food).
LEFC Prayer Guide
Be Encouraged
New Sunday School – Be thankful for the new curriculum our men’s and women’s Sunday School classes started this week! Pray that it will draw the students closer to God.
Church leaders – Praise God for the many people of this church who work behind the scenes to provide us with our many ministries, worship time, and leadership.
Be Earnest in Prayer
Pray for these families from our directory this week: Hawthorne – Hurley.
Debbie Helms – Lonnie’s aunt is in the hospital with a mouth infection and dehydration. She has been battling stage IV kidney cancer for 5 years. Pray for healing and strengthening of her spirit for her and her family.
Kenny Moore, IV – Ken Moore’s son was life-flighted to Pittsburgh last week with organ failure due to Wilson’s Disease. He is home now, but on the transplant list for a liver.
David Turik – Anita Allen’s dad is back in the hospital in Pittsburgh. Doctors are unable to keep his oxygen levels high enough.
Mike Estep – Jeni Kristofit’s cousin is being treated in Altoona Hospital for a stroke. Doctors suspect he may also have cancer.
Michael Yorst – A brother of Shelly Milliron’s coworker is in the hospital waiting for a heart transplant. He is first on the transplant list and can’t leave until receiving it.
Pray for people with ongoing health problems: Ellen Smith, John Achmoody (Jen Kerlin’s father), Wally Kerlin (Dan Kerlin’s father), Mahlon Sones, Doris Thomas (friend of Sylvia Gisewhite), Rike DeGrasse’s Aunt Marie, Lois Belko, and Wanda (Keith Folmar’s coworker).
Be Involved
Wild Game Dinner Prayer Requests – Please pray for…
• wisdom and direction for all that participate in implementation of the WGD.
• those who attend to be drawn closer to the Lord.
• those who do not know Jesus Christ as savior that this would be a time that they would make that important decision.
• the speaker’s message to be directed by the Holy Spirit.
• good weather and safe travels for those who attend.
Link Groups – There are small groups that meet Thursdays and Sundays to enjoy food, fellowship, and growth in God’s word.
Thursdays: 20s + 30s, 8:00pm (float location)
Sundays: 6:00pm, Blair & Ruth Murray
6:30pm, Forceys’ and Sipes’ in the Clearfield Area
7:00, Matt & Heather Mitchell
Prayer Meeting – Wednesday nights, while kids are in FBN, adults meet in the Prayer Room for an hour of dedicated prayer time. There’s no requirement to pray out loud, just to lend your time and prayers.
